[MALAYSIA] The D&E has set the bar high for Malaysian ELFs

Malaysian ELFs were in for a fun-filled night as they were treated to a concert that was over two and a half hours long, where Super Junior’s Donghae and Eunhyuk (D&E) held sway over the eager crowd and took them on a trip down memory lane, earlier this month in Kuala Lumpur.

First of all, Legends!

Fresh off their comeback trail, Donghae and Eunhyuk were raring to go when the concert started. Their energy did not falter until they finished two hours and forty minutes later.

They indulged their darker, more freaky and sexy style, with their latest hit “Danger”, their second single “Watch Out”, “Rum Dee Dee”, “Here We Are”, as well as their slow and sexy jams “Sweater and Jeans” and “Gloomy”. They amped up the sexiness with “Illusion”, “Hot Babe” and “Take It Slow”.

One would be forgiven for thinking that they are not a sub-unit. Their stage had a full arsenal of LED displays, pyrotechnics, a throbbing sound system, chasing lights, explosions, back up dancers, props and several costume changes.

The duo displayed an amazing chemistry with each other and with the audience. The members exhibited confidence borne of years of experience and variety show savvy.

Their concert had a musical line up that straddled across many genres. Ranging from hip hop to trap, their performance highlighted their versatility. Fans were also reminded of the more classic second generation Kpop sound. Super Junior is truly the representative between several ages and colours of Kpop. This is a testament to their diversity and mass appeal that they have. The fans’ dedication towards their decade-long group, was witnessed that night. ELFs both old and new came together that night and no one was tired during the hours-long show.

Making a Connection

Despite their suave and sexy personas, the duo is not afraid to make fun of themselves in true Super Junior style. The boys even went as far as showing a short movie of them breaking out into their ahjussi swag, in revealing suits and a medium-sized school-routine family vehicle. Of course, their tantalising body parts had to be pixelated out for the safety of ELF hearts and minds!

Their easy repartee and jokes entertained the crowd which gave a comic relief during an evening of nonstop hits, including some of their most beloved and nostalgic singles, “Oppa Oppa”, “I Wanna Dance”, “1+1=Love”, “If You”, and truly the crowd favourite, “Growing Pains”.

At one point, they stopped to address the crowd and discovered a fan leaving for a break. They crossed the stage calling out after her and telling her to come back because they have not ended. In the end, she came back to sit down. The duo made sure she understood her transgression by saying that they were keeping an eye on her.

The made a stylish entrance by descending down the ramps and into the standing area during their song “Dancing Out”, wielding water bazookas and shooting at the crowd with them. During “Motorcycle”, they wheeled themselves out on electric scooters, sealing their reputation as sexy golfer uncles for good!

Jokes and fun aside, in all sincerity Eunhyuk recalled memories of the first time he stood onstage in Kuala Lumpur, which was in 2006 as part of Super Junior. They expressed their gratitude for ELFs support and asked the fans to always give them feedback on their social media profiles, so that they can judge whether they are truly giving the fans what they want. After a thoroughly entertaining, nostalgic and exciting evening, Eunhyuk and Donghae promised to be back with Super Junior soon!
