[MALAYSIA] SUPER JUNIOR IS BACK WITH ‘SUPER SHOW 9: ROAD IN KUALA LUMPUR’

A long-awaited nine years has finally ended! Super Junior finally made their ninth Super Show! appearance in Kuala Lumpur on October 10, 2022 in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil last week. Members Lee Teuk, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun came to Super Show 9: Road to Kuala Lumpur and gave their all to Malaysian ELFs, who had been longing to spend the day with them. Let’s take a look at the magnificent evening with Super Junior!

Legends of K-pop is Back!

Malaysian ELFs were up for a treat as they have been waiting for nine years due to the pandemic, and they were thrilled to finally see their favourite boy group, Super Junior in Malaysia. The concert started with a video message from the band, followed by their first stage Burn The Floor. As soon as the eight members emerged in lovely prince-like attires, the cheers from ELFs reverberated throughout the arena! Super Junior proved that they are true seasoned performers as they wow-ed the audience with their strong stage presence and charisma.

To keep the momentum up, Super Junior continued the concert with a series of their past songs, where the boys performed while approaching ELFs by walking forward until the end of the extended stage. During this time, the boys performed their most well-known song from 11 years ago, Mr Simple. Other songs such as The Crown and 2YAOYAO, Ticky Tocky, and Paradox were also included in the setlist, to tribute to their golden days.

10 Years of Experience

Being an idol with over 10 years experience, the boys surely know how to pull a crowd! Super Junior pulled on their humorous side and dazzled the crowd with their multilingual abilities by speaking in Bahasa Melayu, English and Mandarin as they caught their breath for their first segment – a self-introduction.

Some memorable moments were when Siwon spoke in Bahasa Melayu, greeting fans with ‘Nama saya Siwon’ (My name is Siwon) and ‘Saya setia hanya kepada kamu’ (I am only loyal to you). In the end, Siwon also teased the fans to say one more sentence by pretending to read his cue sheet, but he ended up surprising ELFs with a finger heart and cheek heart.

Meanwhile, Ryeowook who arrived in Malaysia one day earlier than the other members mentioned that he had a nice time touring around Kuala Lumpur. He also informed ELFs to look forward to his vlog in Kuala Lumpur soon.

Not to miss out on how Lee Teuk said ‘Assalamualaikum!’ as his first greeting to Malaysian ELFs which caused the crowd to erupt in a huge laughter. Eun Hyuk also recalled his memory filming for his Music Video in Malaysia and mentioned that he felt sorry towards his fans that he was not able to perform the song on that day.

Fast forward after the introduction segment, Super Junior sub-unit K.R.Y continued the stage by singing to I Can’t with with their soothing voices. The remaining members then returned to the stage to perform Believe, a song from their 2005 debut album that was specially chosen for ELFs. It symbolised Super Junior and ELF’s faith in one another, providing them with the chance to reunite again after missing each other for years. However, Super Junior is not the only one who had been preparing for that day. In secret, Malaysian ELFs had carefully arranged a fan project where everyone in the arena held up a banner that said, “Super Junior is here! My wish finally came true,” as the boys sang My Wish to the crowd.

The concert continued as Super Junior transformed into the Gods of Music and performed their well-prepared opera-themed for SPY, Mamacita, and Rokkugo, which amused the entire audience! Up to the stage again, the boys then put on denim and rock-styled outfits to rock the stage with House Party, Devil, MANGO, Black Suit and ELFs all time-favourites, Sorry Sorry and Bonamana.

As the atmosphere was getting hotter, Siwon took off his shirt and showed his perfect six-pack abs which earned roaring applause and screams from ELFs. Not only that, the only one scene-stealer, Lee Teuk also took the chance and hyped the crowd by running all along the stage to show off his stunning body.

Super Junior spreads HAPPINESS

It was hard to say, but every hello must end with a goodbye. That’s how ELFs felt as they knew the concert was ending. Super Junior finally returned for their encore stage, singing More Days With You, Walkin’ and HAPPINESS

Super Junior as a whole expressed their sadness as all of them bid goodbye and promised to keep working hard and return with a better performance. During the ending ment session, Eun Hyuk expressed his opinion by stating that this concert was supposed to be held more than one day in Malaysia as he saw how many Malaysian ELFs that came that day.

Another heart-stealing moment happened when Donghae was delivering his speech. ELFs started singing a Happy Birthday song for him in celebration for his upcoming birthday, which is on October 15. In return, Donghae sent us off with his not only once or twice, but thrice of flying kisses!

Finally, they expressed their gratitude to ELF for supporting them during good and terrible times, and expressed their appreciation for being a constant source of strength for them.
