The vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur was treated to an unforgettable night of music and spectacle as South Korean boy band ONEUS took the stage at the highly anticipated La Dolce Vita Tour. Following the successful release of their 10th mini-album, La Dolce Vita, in September last year, ONEUS has continued to make waves on the global stage. Setting off on their eagerly awaited global journey, the ONEUS 2ND WORLD TOUR ‘La Dolce Vita’ has made its mark in six European cities, 11 cities throughout the Americas, and most notably, the final and only Asian destination, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Presented by Soul & Joy Entertainment, the dynamic quintet ONEUS, featuring the talents of SEO HO, LEE DO, KEON HEE, HWAN WOONG, and XION, brought the audience to life with an unforgettable performance at the iconic ZEPP Kuala Lumpur on May 4, 2024. Renowned for their dynamic group dance performances, ONEUS has solidified their position as a leading performer of the fourth generation with their debut concert in Kuala Lumpur.
Dynamic Showmanship: ONEUS Delivers Stellar Performances Across the Setlist
From the moment ONEUS took the stage with the opening chords of Baila Conmigo, the atmosphere crackled with excitement, marking the debut concert of the sensational K-pop group. With dynamic choreography, powerful vocals, and infectious energy, ONEUS immediately set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
Throughout the performance, fans were treated to a diverse setlist spanning from the group’s debut song to their latest hits, including beloved favourites like ERASE ME, Full Moon, Same Scent, and Valkyrie. Each song was delivered with impeccable precision and heartfelt passion, showcasing the group’s versatility and artistry.
A standout moment of the evening occurred during the performances of LUNA and LIT, where ONEUS captivated the audience with their seamless integration of traditional Korean fan dance into their choreography. What distinguished this performance was ONEUS’ genuine embrace of Korean culture, evident in every aspect of the songs. From the evocative sound of a Korean zither to the incorporation of song lyrics in an ancient Korean poetic form, the group demonstrated a profound connection to their heritage. This dedication to authenticity underscored ONEUS’ deep respect for Korean traditions and added a layer of richness to the performance, leaving a lasting impression on all in attendance.
Getting local with Malaysian TOMOONs
Amid an electrifying concert experience, ONEUS demonstrated their unwavering commitment to connecting with their Malaysian fans on a personal level. Language proved to be no barrier for the group as they made genuine efforts to bridge the gap, exchanging greetings in Bahasa Malaysia and eagerly learning new phrases from the audience, much to the delight of TOMOONs.
Welcoming the Malaysian crowd with open arms, HWAN WOONG expressed gratitude for their overwhelming cheers, setting the stage for an evening filled with unforgettable moments. Each member took turns introducing themselves, further strengthening the bond between the artist and the audience.
The concert was punctuated by dynamic interactions as the members brought up their recent post about the TikTok challenge, Alamak Raya Lagi! ONEUS took a heartwarming initiative, inviting their fans to sing the song for them as they danced to the challenge. With genuine enthusiasm, HWAN WOONG, KEON HEE, and XION joined in the spirited dance, their movements synchronising with the rhythm of the music and the singing from TOMOONs. This collaborative moment not only captivated the crowd but also ignited a profound sense of unity and camaraderie, transcending language barriers between ONEUS and Malaysian TOMOONs.
Mutual Appreciation: ONEUS and TOMOON’s Touching Exchange
As the concert reached its crescendo, ONEUS delivered an unforgettable finale, showcasing performances of NO DIGGITY, BLACK MIRROR, and BBUSYEO, with an unexpected twist. Much to the audience’s delight, the band members graced the stage clad in traditional Malaysian attire, Baju Melayu. HWAN WOONG, XION, KEON HEE, and SEO HO donned the complete sets with grace, while LEE DO, owing to his muscular build, sported only the trousers.
LEE DO later disclosed to the audience that his inability to wear the Baju Melayu top stemmed from his muscular build, despite its size being 2XL. He humorously demonstrated his struggle to fit into it onstage, eliciting laughter from the crowd. This charming moment, coupled with the attire provided by ONEUS Malaysia Official Fanclub, underscored the band’s heartfelt connection with their fans, leaving a lasting impression on the concert experience.
In a poignant moment, as the show neared its end, ONEUS gathered at centre stage for a group photo session, only to be surprised by a touching video montage. This montage, featuring snippets from the band’s debut days and heartfelt messages from Malaysian TOMOONs, was a collaboration with the ONEUS Malaysia Official Fanclub.
The gesture left the boy band visibly moved, with KEON HEE shedding tears of gratitude. Fans showed their solidarity by chanting “Uljima” (Don’t cry) to comfort KEON HEE, reflecting the deep bond between artist and fan. Despite the emotional moments, the concert concluded on a high note with Shut Up 받고 Crazy Hot!
In short, Malaysian TOMOONs were left with an indelible imprint of an extraordinary evening. The resounding success of the concert underscored the deep connection between ONEUS and their Malaysian fans, a bond that transcended borders and resonated with heartfelt memories. As the group forges ahead on their musical journey, Malaysian TOMOONs can take solace in knowing that they hold a cherished place in ONEUS’ hearts.
