GOT7 member and soloist Mark Tuan recently held his first solo concert as part of the Asian leg of his The Other Side world tour at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on January 6, 2024! Read on as we recap what happened during the concert!
Mark Tuan is Back in Malaysia!
Mark Tuan is the third GOT7 member after Jackson Wang and BamBam to visit Malaysia as part of their respective solo tour stops. The last time Mark came to Malaysia was during the GOT7 Fanmeeting tour back in 2016. 8 years later, he embarked on his first solo tour, and Kuala Lumpur was one of the stops for The Other Side world tour.
The concert started at 6PM local time, as Wesley (Wesdaboy) opened the show with his songs such as 3AM, Jose Quevo and Used To/Stick Around. Wesley definitely got the crowd bopping to his catchy tracks throughout his set and got them hyped up for the eventual arrival of Mark Tuan.
After a short break, Mark Tuan finally entered the stage with his live band as he sang After Hours and Save Me. He then brought 2 dancers to the stage as he performed Change Up, Exhausted and At My Low with them.
Mark then introduced himself as Mark of GOT7, which got the IGOT7s cheering hard. He knew that it has been awhile since his last visit to Malaysia, and thanked all the fans for coming to the Malaysian stop of this tour. He showcased his vocals as he performed Far Away, Last Breath and Let You Go, before serenading us with what he said as “one of the saddest songs of the tour”, My Life.
The Other Side of Mark Tuan
During the concert, Mark talked about his 10-year journey as GOT7 and as a soloist. He remembered the good times he and the members had when GOT7 was in Kuala Lumpur, shooting the music video for their song A back in 2014. He acknowledged the fact that each of the members are doing their own thing, but noted that they are still GOT7, and was hopeful that all 7 members can get back together and come back to Malaysia for a concert for the fans.
Mark switched things up as he performed Fallin and Your World together with his dancers and showcased his dazzling moves. He mentioned that he wanted to make more upbeat tracks than the ones he had on The Other Side which he mentioned was more emo, and hoped that the audience were having fun with the tracks. He then continued with a string of hits from The Other Side such as Broken, Selfish, Hard 2 Love and More.
Mark invited Wesley back on the stage to perform 2 Faces together with him, before singing Lonely (Concert Version). He asked the fans to stand up and enjoy the last few songs as he sang Everyone Else Fades, Night Still Young and Carry Me Out before exiting the stage.
Having Fun Until The End
A few minutes later, Mark was back on stage for an encore performance, where he started off strong with Never Gonna Come Down. During his last ment, Mark thanked the fans who had been waiting patiently for him to do this tour, and thanked them for their love and support for the past 10 years whether as a GOT7 member or as a soloist which meant a lot to him. He hoped to come back again next time, perhaps with the other GOT7 members.
Before Mark could proceed with the encore stage, Malaysian IGOT7s prepared a fan event where they screened a special video showcasing their appreciation towards him. He thanked the fans for their unwavering support throughout the years and wanted the fans to really have fun until the end of the concert. Mark then performed One In A Million, My Name, This Is Everything and imysm before finally ending the concert.
The 2-hour long concert was nothing short of incredible as Mark Tuan showcased ‘The Other Side’ of his persona, much to the pleasure of the fans attending. We look forward to his next visit to Malaysia, whether as a solo artist, or as part of GOT7.
