[MALAYSIA] Kim Woo Seok Captivates NIAs During His First Solo Fancon in Kuala Lumpur

Soloist Kim Woo Seok graced the Malaysian shores for the first time ever as part of his Asia fancon tour at ZEPP Kuala Lumpur on June 24, 2023

Read on as we recap what went on during the concert!

The ‘Siren’ Has Arrived

The fancon kicked off at 6PM local time with Kim Woo Seok clad in a white suit performing Dawn and Slip fresh off his latest EP, Blank Page. He was then joined by emcee Hana, who is a local radio announcer at 8FM, as he formally introduced himself to the audience. He also took some time to learn a Malay sentence, ‘Aku sayang kamu’ (I love you) from the emcee and asked for local food recommendations from fans! After that, he continued with his tracks Love and Hate as well as Shame, before heading backstage.

Sweet Like Sugar

After a short while, Kim Woo Seok was back on stage as he surprised the audience with a dance cover of OMG by NewJeans! He was then joined by emcee Hana on stage again as they played two games. The first game was “Guess The Wooseok”, where Woo Seok was tasked to remember some details of events that had happened throughout his debut. The next game was “Guess The Fanchant”, where he guessed the fanchant of his title tracks with the help of NIAs. The segment ended with him performing Sugar, the infectious pop R&B dance track showcasing his sweet cheery side.

Laksa-loving Woo Seok

Kim Woo Seok then returned after a costume change as he performed his solo debut track Red Moon, as well as Ghostin’, before continuing with a Q&A session. The questions were collected from NIAs before the fancon started. During this segment, Woo Seok was able to connect more with NIAs through their questions as he proclaimed his love for laksa (rice noodles served in a curry sauce) and also mentioned that he is currently working on a new album, much to the pleasure of the audience.

He then serenaded the audience with What Are You Up To Tonight and What More Can I Do? before hyping up the crowd with pop tracks Switch and Holiday.

A Fan Service Master

The audience were not willing to let the concert end just like that, so they cheered excitedly in hopes that Woo Seok would perform an encore stage. Sure enough, Woo Seok returned and performed his track Better, making the night even better for the audience by starting his performance at the seating area. The audience were pleasantly surprised as they were within an arm’s length to Woo Seok as he walked around the area and stopped for some pictures with lucky NIAs. He even gave away ping pong balls with his signature to some of the lucky audience.

Towards the end of the concert, Malaysian NIAs prepared a surprise fan event for him with a video showing their appreciation towards Woo Seok, and also a support banner which reads “Let’s fill our blank page with Wooseok”. He was very touched and thanked all NIAs who supported him throughout his journey as a singer. He then commemorated the end of the concert with a photo session with the audience and the dancers!

The 2-hour long fancon was wonderful as we were indeed captivated by the siren that is Kim Woo Seok. We look forward to his next visit to Malaysia! Thank you to Fast Track Events and O.N Worldwide for having us! 🙂
