Bona fide soloist and boy group INFINITE’s leader, KIM SUNG KYU returns to Malaysia after 11 long years for his solo concert – LV3 : Let’s Vacay. The concert was held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur for two nights, on August 10 & August 11, 2024.
The current tour is a continuation of Sung Kyu’s previous solo tours, namely [LV2: Like Your Vibes] which was held last year, and [LV1: Light & Voice] in 2022. Malaysian Inspirits (INFINITE’s fandom name) had the privilege of being the first country on the Let’s Vacay tour stop after it kicked off in Seoul.
The concert started with Sung Kyu performing high tension tracks Divin’, Shine and Ready To Go, before continuing with his first solo song Because from INFINITE’s 2011 album, 41 Days off his first solo album, and Sometimes from his 2023 mini album.
The concert’s setlist consists of a variety mix of all his releases throughout the years, from fan favourites such as Till Sunrise and 60 Seconds, to newer music like Small Talk and Savior. The live band accompanying Sung Kyu further amplified his performances and his rockstar soul was on full display. The fans were even treated to an acoustic set of tracks such as Fog and Like A Dream, showcasing Sung Kyu’s versatility.
During the ment, Sung Kyu shared with fans about his musical shows appearances as he recently completed the musical Dear Evan Hansen in Korea, playing as the titular character. He then surprised the audience as he sang a snippet of both the English and Korean versions of the iconic track Waving Through A Window from the musical. Sung Kyu also mentioned that he will soon begin practising for his new role as Charlie in the musical Kinky Boots once he returns to Korea.
As if the concert could not get any better, the encore saw the audience singing along to KONTROL, showing their unwavering support of Sung Kyu. Sung Kyu gladly sang along with the audience before coming out for a proper performance of the song.
During his last ment, Sung Kyu thanked the fans for their support throughout the years and promised to return to Kuala Lumpur as often as he could. When asked whether he can bring his fellow members of INFINITE, he said that he will “make something happen”, sparking immediate buzz from the audience.
We had so much fun throughout the 2-day show and can’t wait to see KIM SUNG KYU return to Malaysia, whether as a solo artist or together with fellow members of INFINITE.
