[MALAYSIA] Kim Sejeong Opened ‘The Door’ to Malaysian Sesangs At Her First Solo Concert

Actress, singer and all-rounder performer Kim Sejeong recently held her first solo concert as part of her first concert tour at Mega Star Arena on October 29, 2023! Read on as we recap what happened during the concert!

Sesang’s ‘Destiny’ to be with Kim Sejeong

Fresh off the release of her first full-length album 門(Door), Kim Sejeong embarked on her first solo concert tour as a soloist, and Kuala Lumpur was one of the stops for “The 門” tour.

The concert started at 5PM local time, where Kim Sejeong, who dressed in white entered the stage and performed her first track, Whale. She dedicated her next song Destiny to her Sesang (fandom name), signifying that they are her destiny. 

Kim Sejeong flaunted her clear vocals as she performed Teddy Bear, featuring a teddy bear by her side as her stage prop, and Indigo Promise. She mentioned that she often thinks of her fans when she is creating music at night, aiming to give comforting energy to her fans while she is composing.

Kim Sejeong then performed Plant and Send A Letter, before sharing a heartfelt letter written for Sesangs, expressing her gratitude for her fans’ unwavering support throughout her journey in the industry, including from her time in I.O.I. and Gugudan, and up until now as a solo artist.

Showcasing A New Side of Kim Sejeong

Kim Sejeong switched things up by performing tracks Jenga and Top or Cliff, as well as Warning and Do Dum Chit, where she was able to showcase her dancing skills along with her stable vocals. She then continued with Voyage, which was extra special as she had the fans participating in the fanchant of the track.

Kim Sejeong kept the tempo of the concert and performed If We Do afterwards, which got the fans cheering with the jazzy vibe of the tracks, before unveiling a surprise medley of the K-Drama OST tracks that she sang! She sang snippets of Meet Again from The Uncanny Counter, If Only from The Legend of The Blue Sea, All of My Days from Crash Landing on You, and ended the series with a full performance of Love, Maybe from A Business Proposal. The venue played the scenes of the respective dramas as she sang, allowing fans to relive the romantic drama moments once again.

Surprise from Malaysian Sesangs!

Next, Kim Sejeong performed Flower Way and Sea of Hope, where she conveyed her love to the fans who were by her side all this while. She then treated the fans with an interactive photo time, where she posed for photos with poses recommended by fans.

She was then surprised with a fan video made by Malaysian Sesangs, showing their love and support for Kim Sejeong. A fan banner event was also showcased after the video, which wrote “The more we see Sejeong, the brighter Sesang will smile”. 

After that, Kim Sejeong sang In The Rain, where the fans participated in the fanchant of the track as well, before surprising her with paper planes during the final chorus of the song.

An Encore Performance to Remember

The fans were cheering Kim Sejeong’s name for her to be back on the stage, and sure enough, she went back on stage for an encore performance and performed Skyline. 

She then revealed a surprise segment where she sang songs that are not on her concert setlist and took the request from the fans. She sang snippets of Over The Rainbow from her latest album, a cover of Slow Motion and Western Sky, as well as Fingertips from her time in Produce 101!

Kim Sejeong’s final song of the night was Let’s Go Home! She had a final surprise for the audience as she went down the stage to interact with the fans as she performed this track.

The two and a half-hour long concert was definitely a night to remember as Kim Sejeong captivated us with her amazing presence, as expected from an all-rounder performer. We look forward to her next visit to Malaysia!
