DANITYs in Malaysia were finally given the chance to be up close with Kang Daniel last Saturday, 21st September 2019 in Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur. This marks the third time the Produce 101 Season 2’s winner and former Wanna One member has come to Kuala Lumpur – this time, as a solo artist. He recently debuted with his special album “Color on Me” and embarked on an Asia tour with Malaysia as the fifth stop in his Kang Daniel : Color On Me Fan Meeting Tour.
A Cinematic Entrance
Starting the show with an impressive stage lighting and VCR reveal, Kang Daniel greeted his crowd with “Through the Night”, an alluring intro song that had the crowd chanting his name excitedly. Despite performing on the stage alone, Daniel proved his ability as a solo performer as his strong stage presence managed to enthrall the entire arena even with just his first song. After finishing the stage, Daniel continued the show with an R&B song “Color”, leading his audience to focus solely on his captivating voice.
After “Colour” was a talk segment, where Daniel at last faced his Malaysian DANITYs and officially introduced himself in Malay. His hearty Malay and cheesy “Aku cinta padamu” (I love you) line had all DANITYs screaming! The talk began with Daniel sharing his personal thoughts, and the highlight of the talk was definitely about his experience staying in Malaysia. When he was asked about his first impression of Malaysia, the man cheekily revealed Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC), which he later explained was because he has been wanting to visit the national landmark for a while now.
Night of Surprises!
Following after was the segment “I HOPE Surprise Keyword”, a corner where he revealed surprise information to DANITYs. The best part of the segment was the revelation of his upcoming travelogue project called “Colourful Daniel”. Daniel explained that “Colourful Daniel” is his personal project that showcases his youthful side as an ordinary 23 year-old young man. Another surprise that made DANITYs cheer loudly was the news of a full-length album in the works and that the possibility of another concert tour!
After these series of surprises, it was finally game time! The first segment, “Relay Mini Olympic” was a sports-based game and the activities listed were all pre-voted on by DANITYs prior to the concert. Daniel was given only a minute to finish the game, but he beat the time limit by finishing it in only 49 seconds! Next, Daniel participated in a mission dart game named “Daniel’s Gift” where he threw the darts and fulfilled whichever mission that the darts landed on. From this corner alone, DANITYs were served with a 2 times dance speed challenge, sexy dance cover, chic pose picture event and also wake-up call fan-services!
Succeeding “Daniel’s Gift”, he resumed his fan meeting stage with “Horizon” – a sexy yet refreshing act for the audience to see after a whole fun-filled session. After a quick costume change, Daniel performed “What Are You Up To (뭐해)” and entranced the crowd with his amazing stage. DANITYs however were quick to change the game. Right after “What Are You Up To (뭐해)”, Malaysian DANITYs successfully moved Daniel with a lovely fan project VCR screening, and he later expressed his gratitude towards them for the heart-warming support. Then, Daniel set the stage again, this time, with his own version of Justin Biebers’s hit song, “Sorry”.
A Bittersweet Ending
As the show was coming to the end, he revealed that he felt a bit regretful that he could not perform a lot of songs for DANITYs that came for him that night, and he promised to return to Malaysia in the future with more songs that will exponentially show various side of him as a solo performer.
Just when the atmosphere inside the arena started to turn sombre, Daniel ended the night with the final song from his album, “I Hope”, and DANITYs took this moment to sing along with the artist with full enthusiasm. The heartfelt stage finally ended with Daniel attentively going to each corner of the arena to wave at and observe his precious DANITYs up close, before he ultimately bid goodbye to Kuala Lumpur.
