Isaac Voo of the K-pop band IN2IT made history by being the first Malaysian K-pop star to release a solo single, TIME BOMB. Since he previously performed in Korean and English only, Isaac challenged himself to sing in Malay at his media showcase on August 4, 2022 at Vsing, Puchong Jaya. As this was Isaac’s first time performing a song entirely in Malay, he was understandably nervous, but pleased with the result. He presented a cooler and wilder side rather than his typical cute and bubbly persona.
Before this, Isaac, who is proud of his Malaysian heritage, gave fans a clue that they would be able to see the country’s map, flag, the national animal, and Wau (kite), in his music video. He shares that he is extremely thrilled to promote Malaysian culture to his members and global fans. Several prominent figures in the local music scene had worked together on this track, such as Gaston Pong, a singer and songwriter along with Asyraf Nasir. To top it all off, Isaac collaborated with Ezra Tham, a respected choreographer in Malaysia.
The singer depicts his first solo track, TIME BOMB — about a guy who falls in love in a risky relationship. Fearing that he is wasting his life, he gives in to his irrational feelings of love and gives up his life for them. He would sacrifice his life to be with her. Although the bomb might explode at any moment, he confesses and resolves to spend time with his lover. The music video took place in Ampang Jaya and was only filmed within a day, which Isaac found fascinating since his usual group shooting usually took a longer time to complete.
Isaac also shared that he participated in multiple brainstorming sessions with his team members to discuss the music video’s concept, aesthetic and direction. He showed determination in his solo debut by learning the choreography in less than a week. He expressed his interest in trying new opportunities such as hosting, acting and modelling in the future. His skills and experience as a trainee in South Korea contributed a lot in his successful solo promotion, with a song that combines both vocal and rap aside from its intense choreography.
Finally, the showcase ended with Isaac performing his long-awaited solo track, TIME BOMB. As a soloist, Isaac expresses his gratitude by thanking everyone who came to the showcase and hoping that his fans would continue to support his solo journey and his group, IN2IT’s future promotion.
