[MALAYSIA] A Night To Remember At Lee Joon Gi’s Kuala Lumpur Fanmeeting

Multi-talented South Korean actor and singer Lee Joon Gi held his first ever fanmeeting in Malaysia as part of the 2024 LEE JOON GI ASIA TOUR <JOONGI’S DAY : FESTIVAL> at Mega Star Arena on Sunday, September 22, 2024! The fanmeeting tour was Lee Joon Gi’s first Asia tour in five years, and Kuala Lumpur was blessed to be the first stop of the tour. He then continued the tour in Taipei, Bangkok and Jakarta.

Lee Joon Gi debuted as an actor in 2005 with the critically acclaimed film The King and the Clown. Since then, he continuously stole the fan’s hearts with a variety of roles in dramas such as Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Flower of Evil, Again My Life and Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun.

Any random person who is entering the arena would be thinking that the audience were attending a concert by a solo artist, as Lee Joon Gi showcased his amazing singing and dancing skills throughout the fanmeeting. He performed a number of his own tracks such as Can’t Be Slow, Ma Lady and Don’t Know Love, as well as singing OSTs (original soundtracks) from the dramas that he has acted in such as For You from Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, In My Heart (Flower of Evil), and Chosen One from Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun.

Lee Joon Gi mentioned that the songs that he chose for the fanmeeting are the ones that the fans have known and loved throughout his 18-year career. Even though he is an actor, he wanted to entertain the audience with his singing skills throughout the fanmeeting, and the fans gladly accepted with loud cheers.

Lee Joon Gi took some chance to flex his Malay skills as he introduced himself in Malay, saying “Saya pelakon kesayangan anda” (I am your favourite actor) and used local phrases such as “mantap” (so good), “terima kasih” (thank you) and “boleh” (sure thing) throughout his talk session. He even surprised the audience by singing Rasa Sayang, a famous Malay folk song in full Malay language!

Lee Joon Gi was still energetic even after performing for over 2.5 hours, covering Jungkook’s Standing Next To You as part of his encore set. During his final talk set, Lee Joon Gi thanked the fans for attending the fanmeet and was pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome that he had received throughout his time in Malaysia. He then promised to come back to Malaysia with a better performance. The fanmeeting finally ended in a festival-like setting as Lee Joon Gi performed a mashup of exciting tracks such as Bring Da Beat, That That and Uptown Funk, getting the audience dancing on their feet!

The 3-hours fanmeeting was definitely a night to remember as Lee Joon Gi showcased his array of talents to the fans, and we look forward to seeing him in Malaysia again!
