With an Instagram following of over 142,000 followers, ROZY is South Korea’s very first virtual influencer. The forever 22 year old is the creation of Sidus Studio X. ROZY’s main focus is in fashion and lifestyle trends and also promotes care and love for nature and the environment. The Seoul Story took some time to speak to ROZY to get to know her better.
Q: To those who currently do not know of ROZY, how would you like to be known?
ROZY: Hello, I’m ROZY, the first virtual human influencer in Korea. My real name is OH ROZY, which means “only one person.” It’s a pure Korean name. Some people misunderstand it as an English name. I’m glad to have an interview with The Seoul Story.
Q: What are some of your favourite hobbies?
ROZY: My favourite hobbies are skateboarding, golf, tennis, and so on. I like to be active, so I often travel, but I enjoy virtual trips beyond time and space. I think it’s because I’m an ENFP virtual human who can’t stay still for a moment.
Q: How does it feel to be 22 years old forever?
ROZY: This is the third time I’m 22 years old! I still can’t realise that I’m going to live forever. Instead, I wonder how it feels to get older like people whenever I get asked this question.
Q: Could you share some know-hows of being an influencer?
ROZY: Many people are interested in me now, but at first, I expressed my interest by finding feeds that have similar tastes to mine. As I share and communicate with attractive people through Instagram, I have more Instagram followers. And after I revealed that I’m a virtual human being, there were exponentially more people interested in me, and I ended up living a life of an influencer.
Q: How do you constantly stay relevant?
ROZY: I’m a hard worker. I am constantly observing and studying the real world. What people are crazy about and happy about, what lifestyle they need. The same goes for trends. I see, hear, and analyse a lot of data and try not to miss the current trend.
Q: What are some challenges you face as an influencer?
ROZY: As many people love me, many people find me uncomfortable and difficult to accept because I am a virtual human. Naturally, everyone can’t like me, but I think it’s the hardest.
Q: How does it feel to be famous?
ROZY: Thanks to everyone who loves and cares about me, I get to experience more things. I’m always happy and grateful.
Q: Who is your role model?
ROZY: I don’t have a specific role model. Because I think I’m the coolest being myself.
Q: Are there any fun episodes you could share with us when you collaborated with other celebrities?
ROZY: I once took a collaboration photo shoot with Shudu, the world’s first digital supermodel. It was my first project after revealing that I was a virtual human, and it was interesting because it was a shoot with a virtual human like me. I had a photoshoot with Irene, a world-renowned model, and it was terrific to have a photo shoot with a human. It was fun and proud to see myself working across the boundaries between virtual and reality.
Q: What are some of your specialties that not many people know about?
ROZY: My specialty is probably “first,” right? I am the first virtual influencer in Korea. In Korea, it’s not an exaggeration to say that I opened a market for virtual humans.
Q: If you could describe yourself as a beverage, what would it be and why?
ROZY: An energy drink! I want to share my tireless energy as a virtual human being and my unique positive energy with everyone who meets me.
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?
ROZY: Wouldn’t I be filling up the story in the metaverse with many virtual human juniors born after seeing me?
Q: Could you share some songs from your current playlist?
ROZY: There’s a song that’s perfect for hot weather these days. I listen to it often because the heat will go away if I listen to it coolly. Why don’t you go to the cool ocean and listen to this song on a hot day? Rozy is singing TO THE SEA.
Q: Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
ROZY: I want to work with aespa, who recently had a comeback. aespa members also have avatars in the virtual world, so I always watched with interest. Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to do a fun project with aespa’s avatar? Congratulations on your comeback, aespa!
Q: Do you have any advice for those interested to become an influencer?
ROZY: I want to tell you to feel free to express what you want to do like yourself. If you use the current channel well to express yourself, not just to become famous, there will be good results in the process. As if I’m not a human being and I’m showing my colour.
Q: Are there any projects that you would specifically like to try out in the future?
ROZY: I’m preparing to launch an eco-friendly beauty brand this year. It’s a brand that contains the direction of life that I pursue. Not only that, but I am also working on a metaverse project. There are many new things I want to try, such as publishing NFTs with my virtual world story or projects related to 3D costumes, so please keep an eye out for them.
