Fans of Korean R&B are in for a treat as we have rising star george and the ever talented producer Cosmic Boy teaming up for a joint EP, Love In Summer! Combining these two gifted artists has resulted in a lovely album about summer love which embodies the carefree vibe of the season. Check out more deets on the artists through our exclusive interview with them!
Q: How did you both decide to collaborate together?
george: I proceeded with this collaboration because we’ve been close friends even before we decided to make this album together.
Cosmic Boy: We’ve worked together a couple of times before, and I think we have good synergy. So, when he asked me to collaborate with him on an album, I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
Q: What was it like working together on the album?
george: There was no difficulty in working with Cosmic Boy. He led me so well as a producer.
Cosmic Boy: We both are pretty calm and collected individuals, so we didn’t have a single argument. It would be hard to work together if either one of us was too sensitive, but I had a good time working with him.
Q: Was it difficult working on the album together due to any COVID-19 restrictions?
george: Nothing in particular. Actually, I was able to focus on working because I didn’t have other responsibilities like gigs or concerts due to the pandemic compared to last year.
Cosmic Boy: I don’t think so. I just didn’t go out due to the pandemic, so I’m just sad that I couldn’t go on a trip that I really wanted.
Q:How did you come up with the theme of the album?
george: I wanted to make songs that are enjoyable to listen to in summer. So, we decided on the theme as ‘love in summer’ like the title of the album.
Cosmic Boy: When we first came up with this collaboration album idea, we both wanted to write about summer as a theme. Then, we thought it would be fun to associate the theme with stupid love and nostalgia.
Q: Where do you usually find inspiration for your music?
george: I tend to get inspiration in my daily life. Like things or people around me.
Cosmic Boy: I usually find inspiration from lovers, pictures, movies, and dramas.
Q: What do you hope listeners feel from this album?
george: It would be good that people feel comfortable and relaxed when listening to this album.
Cosmic Boy: I hope the music will transport listeners back to their favourite summer time memories.
Q: Are there any new projects in the pipeline soon?
george: There’s no project in progress yet. I’m still thinking about it.
Cosmic Boy: I’ve just started, but I’m thinking of making a full-length album. I think it will come out next year.
Q: Music is a form of comfort for many people. Do you have any particular songs that bring you comfort?
george: Stranger in Moscow by MJ. It makes me feel comfortable when I’m listening to it.
Cosmic Boy: Among my albums, there’s a song called Winter. The track makes me feel comfortable.
Q: What was your 2020 summer like?
george: Hot. In many ways.
Cosmic Boy: Summer, in general, reminds me of the hot sun and the beach vacation. Sadly, I spent most of the time at home working, so the time went by quickly. I really hope the pandemic is over before the next summer comes.
Q:If your music was a dish, what kind of dish or flavour would it be?
george: I think it’ll have a savory taste like… MSG?
Cosmic Boy: It would be the dish called Shabu-Shabu.
The Seoul Story would like to thank george and Cosmic Boy for this interview opportunity! 🙂 We look forward to many more amazing music releases in the near future from the K-R&B scene!
