[INTERVIEW] E’LAST Shares More About ‘ROAR’ & Future Plans

Back with their latest track Creature, E’LAST continues to gain attention from K-pop fans worldwide through their high quality music and unique stage performances. In conjunction with their comeback, the eight-member group sat down with The Seoul Story and shared more about their music influences and upcoming ventures!

Q. You recently celebrated your 2nd Anniversary. Do you have any messages for ELRING all over the world? 

Rano: Thank you for your interest and love to E’LAST even though we can’t meet in person through the pandemic, and for trusting and waiting until the end. As much as you give us your love and support, we’ll be E’LAST who can repay you. I love you.

Q. You debuted during lockdown and an uncertain time and have now toured Japan. Looking back, is there anything you would like to tell your debut self? 

Choi In: You don’t have to be sad because there’s no audience right now! If a little time passes by, you’ll get all the cheers you didn’t get right now, and you’ll have lots of special memories with the most precious ELRING in the world, so until then, fighting!

Q. Please share any special memories of the E’LAST FIRST JAPAN LIVE TOUR 2022. 

Baekgyeul: It was my first time going to Japan and also our first concert, and I was so happy to meet ELRING who waited for us in Japan in person. I think I will remember it forever. Above all, the concert was so much fun.

Q. What do members hope that E’LAST may achieve before your 3rd Anniversary? 

Romin: 1st place on a music show!
Won Hyuk: 1st place nominees on a music show and world tour!
Choi In: I want to perform at the year-end awards ceremony!
Rano: with ELRING, I want to achieve 1st place on a music show.

Wonjun: I want to show you winning the 1st place on music shows in front of ELRING.
Yejun: Participating in the year-end stage.
Seungyeop: My wish is to see ELRING all over the world.
Baekgyeul: I want to grow up more and attend the awards ceremony and perform on the stage.

Q. Please describe your latest track Creature for us. 

Seungyeop: It is the title song that contains the climax of E’LAST’s worldview, which has become a creature that gives up everything and does nothing, literally, Creature.

Q. Your latest MV for Creature required some intense acting. But you have also shown cute/boyfriend concepts very well. Do the members have a preference for either performance style? 

Wonjun: We actually showed you a lot of cute sides during our To.Lie performance. Personally, I prefer a sexy concept where strong dance stands out.

Q. Which track on the EP Roar is your personal favorite? 

Yejun: I like the track Poison.

Q. Would members like to participate in writing and composing more songs in the future? 

Won Hyuk: Of course! I want to participate in many songs in the future, and want to participate in all the songs and make an album!
Choi In: I want to participate in making other artists’ songs as a composer as well as composing E’LAST’s songs!
Rano: I want to participate in composing, gain experience, and make a good album with the members.
Wonjun: I want to be a help to release good albums continually participating in writing lyrics, and I want to make my own great album if the chances are given.

Q. Will ELRING see another comeback from the sub-unit E’LAST U in the near future?

Wonjun: I don’t have an idea about the plan, but I think I’ll be able to show you another performance if I get a chance.

Q. If one member had to take over the E’LAST TikTok account, who would it be? 

Won Hyuk: Maybe it would be me!
Choi In: I’ve been managing E’LAST’s TikTok account for a long time, so I think it’s okay to leave it to another member now!
Rano: I don’t think there’s a problem with which member will manage it.

Q. If you could choose to be on a variety show, what kind of show would each member like to join? (Travel, performance contest, cooking, living/lifestyle…)

Baekgyeul: I want to be on a talk show like Knowing Bros!
Romin: I want to be on an active programme like Running Man.
Won Hyuk: I really like Na Young Seok PD’s shows like Sinseoyugi or Earth Arcade, so I want to be on his variety shows or survival programmes again!
Choi In: I really wanted to be on survival programmes like Kindom: Legendary War! I usually have a big reaction, so I want to go on entertainment programmes where I can participate as a panel, cooking programs where I can show my hobbies and specialties, and travel programmes.
Rano: I want to be on variety shows such as 2 Days & 1 Night and Sinseoyugi or programmes that show my lifestyle.
Wonjun: I want to appear in various programmes, including Knowing Bros, Sinseoyugi, and Point of Omniscient Interference.
Yejun: I’d like to appear on a survival programme and show fans our own unique performance.
Seungyeop: I want to be on a travel-themed variety show like Sisters Over Flowers or a programme that can give people healing by singing like Begin Again.

Q. What does each member do that helps them when they need strength or inspiration?

Baekgyeul: I tend to look for inspiration through walks, experiences and imaginations.
Won Hyuk: I normally think about ELRING, my family or watch videos of my role models, ATEEZ, WOODZ, and Stray Kids. Or choose rest!
Choi In: I eat delicious things when I need energy and watch animations when I need inspiration!
Rano: I eat delicious things or look for fun things. When I need inspiration, I tend to think a lot in a quiet place.
Wonjun: I tend to watch fun dramas, listen to music, and take a walk.
Yejun: I tend to be inspired by everything.
Seungyeop: I get rest and inspiration from watching movies and dramas.
Romin: I’m inspired by listening to my favourite songs.

Q. If you could tell ELRING a very personal message of encouragement, what would it be? 

Choi In: I often say, “It’s going to work out anyway,” and I want to say this to ELRING, too!
Rano: Putting my hope that I’ll always be strength for ELRING and ‘fighting’ together, so I’d like to say “Ranotting again today!”

Managed by E Entertainment, E’LAST debuted in June 2020 with members Rano, Choi In, Seung Yeop, Baek Gyeul, Romin, Won Hyuk, Won Jun, and Ye Jun. Until now, the group has successful mini-albums and has gathered thousands of fans in South Korea and worldwide.

E’LAST’s musical path is still in its beginning but already has some visual masterpieces.
