[INDONESIA] ‘SUNNY’ Special Screening with Kang Sora

A day before the event officially started, Korea Indonesia Film Festival 2019 (KIFF 2019) held a Special Screening event attended by Hallyu star Kang Sora. The two movies shown were a Korean movie titled ‘Sunny‘ and an adapted version in Indonesian titled ‘Bebas‘. Kang Sora attended both screening events which took place at CGV Grand Indonesia.

‘Sunny’ is a South Korean romantic comedy film released in 2011. The film managed to record an audience of 5 million. The movie is about a woman who tries to fulfill her friend’s dying wish of reuniting their old friends. As one of the main actors in this movie, Kang Sora received many awards for her role as Ha Chun-Hwa.

Seeing ‘Sunny”s success, this movie has been adapted by several countries. Indonesia is the fourth country to adapt this film, after Japan, Vietnam and the United States. The Indonesian version of ‘Sunny’ was given the title ‘Bebas’. It was directed by Riri Riza and produced by Mira Lesmana. This film adaptation was distributed by CJ Entertainment.

Together with the cast of ‘Bebas’, Kang Sora opened the Special Screening event which was attended by the media and fans. Kang Sora did not stop smiling throughout the session and expressed her surprise at the filmmakers’ enthusiastic welcome. She also mentioned that this was her first time visiting Indonesia and was very happy to be invited by KIFF 2019.

During the event that night, Kang Sora also interacted with fans who were lucky enough to get her self-signed poster. She asked the audience to watch ‘Bebas’ as well. Kang Sora said that she liked the movie very much and would watch it for a second time.

‘Sunny’ and ‘Bebas’ are some of the many movies that will be screened at KIFF 2019. This event will run from 11-13 October 2019 in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Medan and Surabaya. Don’t miss your chance to watch quality movies from both South Korea and Indonesia.
