Since their first Asian Tour ‘Shining Diamonds’ in 2016, Jakarta has always been on SEVENTEEN’s tour list. This year, for the fourth time in a row, SEVENTEEN were back to Indonesia’s capital city for ‘Ode To You’ World Tour, which was held on 16th November 2019 at Istora Senayan. Here are some points to take you back to the three-hour long wonderful concert!
Annual Reunion with Indonesian CARATs
Delivering one of their more recent bops ‘Getting Closer‘ for the opening act, SEVENTEEN impressed CARATs with their crazy moves and fabulous suits. They continued banging with older hits like ‘Rock‘, ‘Clap‘, ‘THANKS‘ and ‘Don’t Wanna Cry‘ before taking turns to greet CARATs.
Leader S.COUPS personally praised the audience for their huge energy, as CARATs kept singing along to SEVENTEEN’s MVs while waiting for the concert to start. Their loud voices could be heard all through the backstage, and the boys felt grateful for that. Vernon added that it must not be easy to sing in their non-native language. CARATs love and efforts really made them want to keep visiting the country.
Previously during ‘Ideal Cut in Jakarta‘, SEVENTEEN vowed to come back to perform on even better stage for the following tour. This year, they made the wish come true: holding a concert in a sold-out stadium! The members kept waving to all areas, and they looked very happy while noticing CARATs and their lovely CARATbong ocean. Seems like SEVENTEEN adores CARATs as much as CARATs love them!
Outstanding Group Stage and Showcasing Each Team’s Strength
We can all agree that SEVENTEEN is one of the best groups in term of stage acts. And they also didn’t disappoint when carry out a show as a team. Hoshi, Dino, Jun and The8 put on a very beautiful performance of ‘Lilili Yabbay‘ and ‘Shhh‘. It felt like Performance Team‘s fluid moves had successfully cleansed CARATs eyes that night!
Hip Hop Team was next to show their strengths. Instead of the aggressive raps, they chose to go with calmer songs like ‘Chilli‘ and ‘Trauma‘. Nevertheless, it got CARATs cheers fired up especially when S.COUPS, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon walked to the front stage.
It was a good idea to let Vocal Team have the last team stage with ‘Hug‘ and ‘Don’t Listen In Secret‘. Their harmonisation and the peaceful ambience went so well together and CARATs joined in to sing with them.
‘Smile Flower‘ and their B-side ‘Can’t See The End‘ sung by Hip Hop Team and Dokyeom also captured CARATs interest for the emotional lyrics and powerful vocals. Thereafter, SEVENTEEN carried on a musical-like performance of ‘Adore U‘, ‘Pretty U‘, ‘Oh My!‘ and ‘Just Do It‘, before unveiling their killing dance moves with ‘Good To Me‘, ‘Happy Ending‘ and ‘Fear‘.
SEVENTEEN is CARATs’ Pride of Pride
Unfortunately, S.COUPS and Jeonghan fell sick during the concert that the two couldn’t participate for the second half of the performances. But CARATs were very understanding and putting their health as top priority, united by chanting “Gwenchana! Gwenchana!” (it’s okay!) to show support.
Wonwoo also addressed the concern and promised to work harder to fill the two oldest members’ space. To brighten up the mood, Dino and Seungkwan also did some ‘energy check‘ where they played an echo game with fans, even dropping non-sense words that made CARATs burst out laughing.
SEVENTEEN proceeded to the encore stage with ‘9-TEEN‘ and ‘HIT‘ where CARATs were seen holding the fan-project banner during the latter. “SEVENTEEN is CARATs’ PRIDE OF PRIDE” was written on it, referring to “HIT”‘s lyric. The boys couldn’t hide their excitement seeing the project, and looks like their last encore song was all they want to say in reply to CARATs. It was ‘Very Nice‘ to spend time together and they hoped SEVENTEEN and CARATs will meet again soon!
Next year is another promise, right? 😉
SEVENTEEN concluded ‘Ode To You’ in Jakarta with a huge success and it was a prideful moment for both SEVENTEEN and CARATs. We’d like to thank Mecima Production for inviting us to this amazing event!
