Indonesian ARMYs (fandom name) became witnesses to j-hope‘s excellence on the stage last weekend. The BTS member successfully got the whole arena starstruck during his j-hope Tour ‘HOPE ON THE STAGE’ in Jakarta, which was held on May 3-4 in Indonesia Arena. The perfect mix of top-notch performances, next-level stage production, and unwavering energy from the fans made the whole event hard to forget!
The party officially started as j-hope brought What If to the stage. Clad in a red outfit from head to toe, complete with sparkly gloves and stylish shades, the singer made his grand entrance as the star of the night. The strong performance was also supported by a powerful live band and a unique stage arrangement, making the show breathtaking right from the start. The show then continued with equally mesmerizing renditions of Pandora’s Box, Arson, and STOP, catchy tracks from the Jack In The Box (2022) album.

“Apa kabar, Jakarta? Mana suaranya?” (What’s up, Jakarta? Make some noise!), j-hope greeted the audience with perfect Bahasa Indonesia during his first ment. “You guys are so full of energy! Are you ready to have fun? I can’t wait to sing and dance with you!” he added. The singer shared that because it had been eight years since he last came to Jakarta, he felt that he should do his best for Indonesian fans.
True to his word, j-hope continued to perform wholeheartedly. In contrast to his first appearance, the BTS rapper brought an old-school ambience to the next segment with baggy jeans, a striped oversized top, and a bandana. The segment flawlessly showcased his vocal and dance skills through R&B tracks from HOPE ON THE STREET VOL. 1, which was released last year, namely lock/unlock, i don’t know, and i wonder….

To match j-hope’s immaculate performance, Indonesian ARMYs gave their loudest support to their idol throughout the show. More than just fan chants, the crowd also sang along with j-hope on many songs, including his latest single, MONA LISA, Base Line, and Chicken Noodle Soup. Like idol, like fans, both knew how to have fun to the fullest!
The energy skyrocketed even more as j-hope brought a few BTS songs to the show. Starting with Airplane pt.2, the crowd could not help but join j-hope in chanting the lyrics. He then continued with Mic Drop and Silver Spoon, which succeeded in making the audience more hyped up. The group’s hip-hop energy was also perfectly delivered through j-hope’s solo rendition of Dis-ease. The inclusion of BTS songs definitely made ARMYs miss the group even more.

Near the end of the concert, j-hope shared that he ate so much because there were so many delicious foods in Indonesia. He mentioned sate (skewers) as one of the foods he ate earlier. “Very delicious,” he commented, giving a thumbs-up in acknowledgement. The food made him very happy, but the concert that day truly made him even happier. j-hope also felt thankful that the fans enjoyed the concert.
Before concluding the show, j-hope treated the audience to special performances during the encore. = (Equal Sign) and Future were supposed to be gifts for ARMYs, but the singer clearly enjoyed the performance as well, as seen in his cheerful demeanor. j-hope chose NEURON as the final song of the night, giving everyone present the strength and motivation to continue with their lives.
We will be looking forward to your next visit, j-hope!
Also, thank you for having us, iMe Indonesia!
