Almost 17 years after their debut, FTISLAND, consisting of Hongki, Jaejin, and Minhwan finally made their way for their first-ever concert in Jakarta, ‘HEY DAY‘.
The concert was held on March 16, 2024 at Gandaria City Hall for a close and intimate ambiance with Indonesian Primadonnas (fandom name). To start things off, the band performed the hard-hitting Theory of Happiness. It was followed by a couple more songs such as Falling Star, I Hope, and Champagne which garnered enthusiasm from the audience.
During the opening ment, the boys said they were amazed that everyone knew each and every song, plus the lyrics, even to their older tunes! They also basked in the moment of meeting Indonesian fans for the first time. Soon after, the festivities continued with Puppy, which got us screaming “BOW WOW WOW!” excitedly.
The experience would not be complete without their iconic 2007 debut track, Love Sick. Throughout the concert, Hongki mentioned that they regret only coming to Jakarta now. But seeing the fans’ delight for this song proves that FTISLAND and Indonesian Primadonnas have always got each other’s back after all these years! The members also noticed that fans were wearing clothes of their official colour, sunshine yellow, further showcasing their love for the group.
In addition to songs from their previous albums, FTISLAND also serenaded us with tracks from their latest EP, Sage, which was released in September 2023. Songs like Not Enough, All Of My Life, Broken, and Sage successfully displayed how they managed to bring the same quality to the table from album to album while also delivering fresh sounds.
When FTISLAND sang, “It’s a beautiful night, it’s a beautiful day” off of the song, Beautiful from their 2021 EP, LOCK UP, they definitely painted the perfect picture of what the fans were feeling at the concert. Towards the end of the show, the boys performed their self-titled track, Ft Island, which got everyone singing and dancing. They also sang A Man’s First Love Follows Him to the Grave and to close things off, they sang a rendition of Primadonna during encore, a track dedicated to FTISLAND’s beloved fans. However, without Hongki knowing, the band prepared a surprise birthday cake for him to commemorate his 34th birthday on March 2nd, 2024. The night ended on a high note with this celebration!
From the first chord to the final song, FTISLAND’s HEY DAY in JAKARTA was surely one for the books. We would like to extend our gratitude to Three Angles Pro for the media invite!
