[INDONESIA] Eye-Catching & Heart-Snatching Night For GOT7 Eyes on You Concert in Jakarta

Last Saturday on June 30th, GOT7 finally returned to Indonesia as part of their ‘Eyes on You’ World Tour. Held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, Serpong, it was their first ever concert in Indonesia and a much awaited reunion after their previous two visits for GOT7 1st Fan Meeting in Indonesia’ and ‘Flight Log: Turbulence Fan Meeting’. Time has been moving slowly, but it was surely worth the long wait!

Endless Energy to Turn Up the Night
From the moment they stepped on stage, GOT7 gave their all with a strong triple combo of ‘Hard Carry’, ‘Skyway’, and ‘OUT’. With a teasing, “Isn’t it a shame if we stop now?” GOT7 spared the fans no moments of rest as they quickly moved to the front stage, performing ‘My Home’ and ‘Paradise’ with such intensity it felt like they’re truly taking the fans to heaven.

Yet the barrage of strong performances didn’t seem to sap their energy even one bit, because they were still all smiles and big grins when they finally stopped to greet the fans. With “Halo, kami dari GOT7!” (Hello, we’re from GOT7!), they introduced themselves in Bahasa, before switching back to Korean and English so they could communicate better with fans. JB was especially amused by fans’ reaction, noting that it seemed like everyone had learnt Korean because they reacted without even waiting for translation.

Meanwhile, BamBam lighted up the mood by asking everyone to party together before they went back to heat up the night. With parades of hit songs such as ‘Teenager’, ‘Girls Girls Girls’, and ‘Stop Stop It’ along with fan-favourites B-side songs like ‘HEY!’, ‘Firework’, ‘Beggin on My Knees’, and ‘Us’, their powerful performances truly gave fans a night to remember.

Highly Anticipated Upgraded Performances

Ever since the press conference, the boys teased fans to prepare themselves for upgraded performances and indeed, true to their words, GOT7 had non-stop energetic stages and also a specially made VCR series to introduce each of their performances of ‘If You Do’, ‘My Reaction’, ‘Face’, and ‘Dreamin’.

Narrating the story of a guy who got into a fight with his lover, the VCR followed him as he tried to reach out to his girlfriend, only to find out that she was already seeing someone else. But just as he tried to make peace with the heartbroken feeling he was going through after the break up, she reached out to him again and they finally reunited in a happy ending. What truly made the VCR special, however was that every line in the VCR was translated into Bahasa Indonesia. Making the ending message of “Terima kasih, Ahgase. Malam ini aku akan memimpikanmu lagi,” (Thank you Ahgase, tonight I’ll dream of you again) all the more touching, literally sweeping everyone off their feet. It became even more meaningful when Jackson revealed that the VCR was created by Jinyoung, especially for IGOT7s.

The continued with ‘You Are’ and ‘Never Ever’ before leaving the stage to prepare for encore. And once again, they surprised us with upgraded encore stages that were thoroughly prepared. They provided fans with a glimpse of their casual daily life showing themselves having dinner together while preparing for the concert.

They then continued heating up the atmosphere with special unit stages! The first unit was Jinyoung and BamBam, who looked like true royalties as they commanded the stage with their song ‘King’. Kicking up a notch next were Mark, JB, and Youngjae who gave fans heart attacks with their performance of ‘Think About It’. Lastly, Yugyeom and Jackson took over the stage with solo performances of ‘From Now’ and ‘Hunger’, respectively, before combining their undeniable charms for the banger that was ‘Phoenix’. Jackson even took off his top mid performance and caused the crowd to go crazy!

Sincere Love for Indonesian IGOT7s
What really shone throughout the concert, however, was the sincere love that GOT7 had for Indonesian fans. Jinyoung especially melted the hearts of IGOT7s when he said, “Loving and supporting someone they don’t know is a very pure thing. So I think GOT7 and IGOT7s have a very pure relationship, and it makes me proud,” through the VCR. Right after, they came up on stage to sing ‘Thank You’ and got surprised in return by a fan project from Indonesian IGOT7s. Lifting up a green heart-shaped fan, the audience sang along to the song to create a wonderful symphony. “Your voices are beautiful,” BamBam confessed. “Can you try singing for us again?” IGOT7s did as asked, and it was GOT7’s turn to be rendered speechless by the sweet gesture.

Leader JB promised to make even better music in the future, and concluded his message with, “Tunggu kami ya.” (Please wait for us)

BamBam who was next, was a total sweetheart. He said that the best part of the’s show wasn’t their performances, but the fan’s. And, to seal the deal, he said, “Jangan lihat cowok lain ya” (Don’t look at other boys). Not one to lose, Jackson also stepped up his game by saying, “Genggam tanganku, cantik,” (Hold my hand, beautiful) and successfully got all the fans losing their mind.

Cool guy Mark simply asked the fans to wait for their upcoming album before saying, “Tunggu kami datang lagi ya!” (Wait for our next visit!) andYugyeom surprised everyone by admitting that he feel loved whenever he performed and that, “Malam ini malam yang sangat indah.” (Tonight is a very beautiful night)

Jinyoung once again showed his eloquence as he shared, “We’ve been going to a lot of countries, so our physique is a bit down and I even wonder whether I can hold out for 2.5 hours,” he admitted. “But the moment the first song started, I felt the warmth of fans’ heart and my fatigue disappeared. Aku sangat rindu kalian! Terima kasih! (I’ve really missed you! Thank you!)”

Last but not least, Youngjae bid fans goodbye by saying that he truly felt the excitement, similar to how fans did. For him, he was the lucky one for being able to meet all IGOT7s. “Selamat tinggal dan sampai bertemu lagi!” (Goodbye and see you again) he said before they all regretfully performed their last two songs ‘Look’ and ‘Go Higher’ under rain of white confetti where they concluded the show on a high note.

The Seoul Story would like to extend our huge thank you to Mecima Production for the chance to be part of this magical night! 🙂
