[INDONESIA] DOH KYUNG SOO Makes Flowers ‘BLOOM’ at First Fancon in Jakarta

DOH KYUNG SOO, also known as D.O. from EXO, successfully held his first-ever solo fancon in Indonesia with the 2024 DOH KYUNG SOO ASIA FAN CONCERT TOUR <BLOOM> in JAKARTA. The event took place at The Kasablanka Hall with a total of three sold-out shows over two days on July 12 and 13, 2024.

The Seoul Story had the chance to be a part of the excitement during the second show. Here’s our lively recap on the unforgettable experience!

‘BLOOM’ Together with DOH KYUNG SOO

DOH KYUNG SOO kicked off the show by performing the title song from his newest album, Mars, before greeting the fans who eagerly welcomed him. He revealed that it was hard to move on from the energy he received from the first show, and the second show’s crowd certainly did not fail to impress him as well.

He then proceeded to explain the meaning behind his fancon title, BLOOM. DOH KYUNG SOO revealed that the title is deeply connected with his third mini album’s title, Blossom. BLOOM itself represents growth and flourishing, indicating his desire to grow together with the fans. “When I look at all of you from the stage, it’s like all of you are blooming. So you are the inspiration behind the title.”, he said.

The first part of the fanmeet began with talks to get to know DOH KYUNG SOO better, covering topics from his workout routine and daily habits to his favorite Indonesian cuisines. DOH KYUNG SOO revealed that he is happiest when he holds concerts and when he rests at home watching YouTube videos. However, given that he is a well-known foodie, the MC quickly pointed out that he thought the idol’s greatest joy would be eating tasty foods. DOH KYUNG SOO admitted that the MC was right and clarified that he is indeed the happiest when he eats delicious foods.

At his first show, a fan gave him several Indonesian food recommendations, including soto betawi, martabak, and sop buntut, which he tried the very next day. He also tried the classic nasi goreng and revealed that it’s his favorite. He said that the taste of Indonesian foods, especially nasi goreng and martabak, is out of this world, and honestly, we totally agree!

An Acapella Festive

In the next segment, DOH KYUNG SOO took the time to fulfill some of the fans’ wishes that were written on notes before the show. A fan asked him to sing I’m Gonna Love You from his first mini album, Empathy. He revealed it was his first time performing this song live. Another fan requested Dad from the same album, which led to a humorous moment when the star admitted he couldn’t remember the song, sparking laughter among fans. After a brief pause, he managed to recall it and delivered a beautiful rendition even without any musical accompaniment.

DOH KYUNG SOO continued to showcase his vocal prowess with a series of acapella covers in his toDOlist segment. He performed covers of Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi, Every Day, Every Moment by Paul Kim, Eyes, Nose, Lips by Taeyang, and Sometimes by Crush.

After a series of beautiful song covers, DOH KYUNG SOO responded to the MC’s tribute to his Popcorn music video outfit by eagerly joining in the popular dance challenge along with the MC. This charming act brought joy to fans who cherished this endearing side of him.

Strong Bond and Synergy

As the lively talk with DOH KYUNG SOO came to a close, it was time for the concert part of the show. Dimming the mood slightly, he performed some of his slower tracks, Simple Joys, That’s Okay, I Do, and Ordinary Days. Despite the mood shift, fans remained energetic, much to DOH KYUNG SOO’s surprise. He expressed how he could sense their happiness and how their enthusiasm made him incredibly happy. “Indonesia, you guys are amazing. I’m really happy,” he exclaimed.

He also shared his desire to perform more lively songs to get fans jumping and fully engaged in the show. Alongside this wish, he teased a spoiler for his upcoming album in the most adorable way. “Next album is very powerful,” he announced in english. “And very energy bbang,” he added, suggesting that it will be bursting with energy. He then apologized for his broken English, although it was clearly not a problem at all as the message was well-conveyed, and fans will surely look forward to the new release.

Towards the end of the show, fans surprised DOH KYUNG SOO with a special fan video project. The video showcased various good deeds the fandom had carried out in his name, from ocean conservation efforts to charitable donations, which deeply impressed him.

The endless energy from fans and DOH KYUNG SOO’s stellar performances created a strong bond and synergy, making the fancon an unforgettable experience for both sides. Expressing his gratitude and longing to hold onto the fans’ energy in his heart, DOH KYUNG SOO concluded the fancon with performances of Somebody and Popcorn, with fans singing along until the very end.
