[INDONESIA] Dept Talks About the Past and Future at ‘Dream Age Tour’ Press Conference

Just a few hours before his Dream Age Tour 2025 in Jakarta, Dept sat down with a number of media representatives and selected fans for a press conference session at MNC Conference Hall. Clad in a set of cream-toned outfits and dandy glasses, the singer answered several questions about his future plans, motivations, and memories in Jakarta.

At the start of the press conference, it was revealed that Dept had just arrived the day before the event. He felt grateful that many fans welcomed him at the airport upon his arrival, and he even received a money bouquet from one of them. “I calculated the amount and it’s a big one, so thanks for that,” Dept said to the fan who gave him the bouquet, who turned out to be present at the press conference.

The singer said that regarding the impromptu fan meeting at the airport, he had learned from last year’s rendezvous. He was surprised to see so many fans welcoming him back then, but he came prepared this time around. His manager even trained him to do fan service at the airport, such as posing for pictures and giving his signature. Thanks to the training, he felt more natural in doing the fan service. He personally thought he did better than last year and already plans to do the same thing the next time he comes to Indonesia.

When talking about the Dream Age tour, Dept expressed his gratitude for being able to pursue a music career over the past ten years. He revealed that things were difficult at the beginning of his journey, but now he has many opportunities to make his music more known to the public. “I was just a producer, but now I am touring. So I named it ‘Dream Age’, because I hope and I wish your dreams also work out (like mine).”

When asked about his motivation to keep going and stay productive in making music, Dept answered that there are at least three things that keep him grinding: the desire to keep challenging himself, gratitude, and the fans. In his early days, Dept shared that he really wanted to hear somebody say “thank you for your music” to him just once. As the result of his hard work the past ten years, countless people had told him the exact words he wanted to hear. He felt grateful, and it fueled him to keep making music.

Regarding his next plans, Dept unveiled that he has many projects coming up until next year. For starters, he is going to release a new album called Goodbye 2025 and a J-Pop album before the year ends. Dept also plans to release an album in Bahasa Indonesia, much to the fans’ delight, and do a collaboration with an Indonesian girl group. He even sang a little snippet of the song and told the audience that the title had not been finalised yet. With all these plans in motion, Dept hoped fans would look forward to them.

This year, Dept released Love In Jakarta and A Night In Jakarta, featuring Kelsey Kuan and Isaac Solo, respectively. Speaking about Love In Jakarta, he shared that the song was inspired by the audience of his previous concert in the city. During that show, Dept broke his guitar and experienced some issues with the sound system, but fans gave him the energy to end the show well. They must have touched his heart dearly for him to write, “I’ve never felt this. A feeling so warm inside my heart. I think I want this to play on repeat, all night long” as the song lyrics. Meanwhile, A Night In Jakarta was about a kind hotel staff member who lent him money to buy food in the middle of the night during his stay.

As for his expectations for the upcoming concert, Dept said he was looking forward to interacting with the fans. “I knew the Jakarta fans are very good at interactions, so let’s have fun tonight!” he exclaimed enthusiastically.
