[INDONESIA] Chanyeol Reminisces on His Journey as an Artist, Preparation for ‘The Eternity’ Fancon, & More at Press Conference

Chanyeol made his way back to Indonesia for ‘The Eternity’ Fancon in Jakarta, which was held on March 9, 2024 at ICE BSD City. Prior to the show, Chanyeol greeted the media and a hundred lucky fans during the press conference for his fancon.

The last time Chanyeol visited Indonesia was with the EXO members for a meet and greet back in August 2023. Reflecting on his previous visit, Chanyeol reminisced about the vibrant atmosphere and incredible energy of Indonesian EXO-Ls. He also expressed his excitement for the fancon as he looked forward to experiencing the same enthusiastic energy from Indonesian fans once again.

Despite having held the fancon in several other countries, Chanyeol was able to maintain his energy by drawing motivation from his fans. “When I see the excitement on the fans’ faces, I can’t help but be passionate. Even if I’m the one performing on stage, I also receive good energy from everyone,” said Chanyeol.

When asked about how he could stay focused and calm in front of fans all around the world, Chanyeol explained that he usually does not get nervous. Instead, he is more excited about going on stage quickly to meet the fans. Rather than trying to calm his nerves, Chanyeol focuses on doing a lot of vocal warm-ups and practises his vocalisations.

Since completing his military service back in September 2022, Chanyeol has been more active as a solo artist. Fans have eagerly awaited news about his long-awaited solo album, which has been rumoured since last year. When asked for a potential spoiler, Chanyeol simply replied, “It’s a secret”. But one thing is for sure, he will continue to show the sides that fans want to see from him.

As Chanyeol focuses more on his solo projects, he talked about the differences between solo and group activities. On the bright side, he enjoys having more leisure time for himself. But sometimes, he would feel lonely and miss the EXO members even more on those days.

For instance, Chanyeol revealed that he stayed at the same hotel during his visit to Indonesia with Sehun for the EXO-SC Fancon last year. Typically, they would hang out, hop into each other’s rooms, and play the guitar together. Now that he was all alone, Chanyeol admitted to feeling a bit melancholic about the change. However, to lighten the mood, he jokingly remarked, “I still slept well last night,” which made the audience burst into laughter.

Debuting as an EXO member in 2012, Chanyeol has accumulated twelve years of experience in the entertainment industry. With the wealth of experience Chanyeol has as an artist, it’s no secret that he is a role model to many. One artist who played a significant role in shaping Chanyeol into who he is today is Hollywood actor and singer, Jack Black.

Chanyeol revealed that he began pursuing music after watching one of Jack Black’s movies. The idol also praised Jack Black’s exceptional acting skills, musical talent, and ability to bring happiness to others. Thus, Chanyeol aspired to follow in his footsteps on his journey as an artist.

The press conference concluded with Chanyeol bidding farewell, while also expressing his excitement to reunite with fans at the fancon. “See you guys on stage, bye bye.”
