[INDONESIA] A Dreamlike Joyous Night with JBJ at Joyful Days in Jakarta

For the first time, the six members of JBJ visited Indonesia on 7th April 2018 to hold their first “Joyful Days” Asia Tour concert at The Kasablanka Hall. And in the span of 2 hours, they took us on a magical night that Joyful(s) won’t forget.

Six Bundle of Joys
Even before JBJ went up on stage, the crowd was already cheering when they watched the opening introduction VCR. When the six boys finally went up on stage, they literally went wild and we could definitely relate! Clad in colourful suits and jackets that represented their colours from their ‘True Colors’ concept, the boys were simply stunning. Especially when they proceeded to kick-start the concert with a dreamlike performance of “My Flowers” and “Moonlight”. They ended the opening stage by walking one by one to the front, introducing themselves with the help of background VCR and cutely posing to show just how happy they were to be there.

That joyful mood continued on throughout the show, as the boys never once let their smile down. During talk sessions, they were really cheerful and excited, repeatedly conveying their delight on finally being able to see Indonesian fans. From Taehyun‘s cute struggle to say “Apa kabar?” (How are you?) to Kenta‘s sweet appreciation of Indonesian Joyful’s beauty, their boundless energy never ceased to light up the stage.

As it was their first time in Indonesia, they didn’t expect the warm welcome and were truly touched by the fans’ enthusiasm. To repay it, they dedicated all their efforts to present a dreamlike performance of their hit song “Fantasy”. And much to fans’ delight, they continued on with the strong but sweet “Say My Name” and the very apt “Wonderful Day”. Because it was such a wonderful day for both Indonesian Joyful(s) and JBJ themselves!

Six Stories Made Into One
More than just joyful, JBJ also knew how to touch our hearts. As fans already knew, JBJ was formed thanks to “Produce 101 Season 2”. Though they were previously trainees and idols from different companies, fate and fans brought them together as JBJ. So to pay homage to this part of their journey, they prepared a special segment of solo stages as a way to convey each of their stories.

The first story belonged to Sanggyun, who overwhelmed the stage with his force as he performed his self-composed songs “Blind” and “Whatever U Want”. Not only did he deliver all his lines without a single mistake, he also went down the stage to get up close and personal with Joyful(s)! Suffice to say, everyone was losing their minds because of his action. But Joyful(s) didn’t have the time to catch their breath, because the next stage belonged to Taehyun. With a special choreography by SOREAL, he showed off both his powerful movements and sleek charm. It was truly a hypnotising performance that had everyone wanting more.

The spell continued as Hyunbin came up on stage. He started with a shy and soft “Apa kabar?”, but quickly changed the atmosphere as the beat to his solo song, “GOD”, started playing. His raw emotions were evident in each of his line delivery, and the English translation of his lyrics on the VCR truly worked wonders. The fourth performer also maintained the mesmerising spell, though used a vastly different approach. True to his happy virus personality, Kenta took over the stage with the bright “Eat You Up”. With its cheerful and catchy dance routine, Kenta got Joyful(s) to sing and dance along to him, successfully fulfilling his wish to make everyone happy with his performance.

Sensing that everyone was too high and needed to calm down, Longguo opted to converse first with Joyful(s). He introduced the song as one that he has always sung in the practice room, and delighted everyone by choosing the beloved soundtrack of hit drama “Goblin”“Beautiful”. With eyes closed, Longguo perfectly conveyed every emotion in the song and touched the hearts of all attending Joyful(s). Pretty sure some even had tears in their eyes thanks to his soulful performance! However, Joyful(s) were up for another treat as maknae Donghan easily conquered the stage with his flawless performance of SHINee Taemin‘s “Move”. With each hip sway and confident smirk, Donghan had no trouble sweeping every Joyful(s) off their feet!

By Fans, For Fans
Throughout the show, one thing that all six members of JBJ never forget was communicating with Joyful(s) and conveying their gratefulness. Not just through words, but also through a very special gift; a performance of “예뻐”, the CD only track from their debut album “Fantasy”! Suffice to say, all Joyful(s) went berserk thanks to their thoughtful treat. Even more so when they followed up with “Every Day”, making everyone wished they could experience this magical moment every single day for the rest of their lives.

After they performed “As If In A Dream”, the boys were taken by surprise when a video message from Indonesian Joyful(s) suddenly played on the screen. As the video was played, the six members watched attentively to each heartfelt message with a big smile on their face sand, for some, telltale of tears in their eyes. Donghan was especially touched by this video, and he said it’s because of Joyful(s)’ hard work. He thanked Joyful(s) for their efforts, and for the wonderful welcome they gave to JBJ.

Meanwhile, Sanggyun expressed his regret for only being able to come now. “Had we known there were this many Indonesian Joyful(s), we would’ve come sooner,”  he said. The sentiment was echoed by Hyunbin, who thanked everyone for waiting for so long and for coming to their concert even though it was late. All six members also expressed their desire to come back, and Kenta promised that he’d do his best so he can meet Indonesian Joyful(s) again one day.

With the promise to never forget this day and a wish that Indonesian Joyful(s) will do the same, JBJ bid their goodbye with “True Colors”. Though it was hard, they gave their official greeting for the last time and exited the stage. It was the perfect end to a joyful night with dreamlike performances, and we hope we’d get the chance to meet them again one day!
