South Korean singer and actor Hwang Min Hyun is coming back to Manila for his mini-concert, 2023 Hwang Min Hyun Mini Concert <UNVEIL> in Manila, happening on October 8, 2023, 6PM at the New Frontier Theater!
Though Min Hyun is certainly not new to the Hallyu industry, weโre sure that there are still casual K-Pop or K-drama fans that might be curious about him! We’ve prepared five things that you need to know about this charismatic idol-actor. ๐
1. He debuted in 2012 as a lead vocalist of NU’EST
Min Hyun made his official debut as the lead vocalist of PLEDISโ first boy group, NU’EST. Their debut song, FACE is NU’EST’s most-watched music video on YouTube with more than 133 million views. He then launched his solo career in 2023, releasing his debut mini-album, Truth or Lie, last February.
2. He joined the survival-audition show Produce 101
He joined the survival reality show Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017 along with fellow NU’EST members, JR, Baekho, and Ren. After consistently being in the Top 11, Min Hyun ranked 9th overall and eventually debuted in the project boy group Wanna One.
3. He is also a musical actor
Being the all-rounder that he is, Min Hyun also had a stint as a musical actor in Marie Antoinette where he played the role of Count Axel von Fersen, a Swedish count who was in love with the titular character. We bet a lot of Hwangdos are looking forward to his next musical play role, ’cause we definitely are!
4. He has an Instagram account
Know the idol-actor with an Optimus Prime icon on Instagram? Thatโs Min Hyun! If youโre unfamiliar with the meaning of his handle, ‘optimus‘ is Latin for ‘best‘ (also the part of the name of the character in his profile picture, Optimus Prime, from Transformers) and ‘Hwang‘ comes from his surname.
