[FEATURE] The Different Flavours of SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN-teen-teen! Say the name, SEVENTEEN!

There’s no such thing as a perfect mix of people, but this idol group does make it seem like they’re close to being the crème de la crème. Although different in so many ways, S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino prove that even a group with so many members can blend into one wonderful aroma.

SEVENTEEN is more that just “a group with 13 members”, they have three totally different sub-groups that showcase the wide array of talent that not all idol groups can.

A group with three other units but still remain in harmony? We call that a triple threat! So if you ever jammed to their debut song ‘Adore U’ or their latest single ‘Oh My!’, then fasten your seat belts and get ready as they still have more in store for everyone.

Hip-Hop Unit

The Hip-Hop Unit consists of members S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon. All four rappers have different styles that can fit your preferences. And don’t be fooled by the word “hip-hop”, not only do they have fast paced songs, but chill music that you can sway too like ‘Lean On Me’, and ones that you can groove to like ‘IF I’. You may be blown away by the beat of their tunes, but their lyrics are also not to be ignored as they talk about a diverse amount of topics, from love to their inner troubles.

Not only do they showcase their skills by having unit songs in their albums, they also upload songs in the group’s SoundCloud account. Check out their self-produced anthems such as ‘LOTTO’ and ‘Check In’! P.S. Joshua is an honorary member of this unit.

Vocal Unit

Are you ready for vocals smoother than your skin will ever be? Well, that’s what Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan are here for. Don’t get fooled by this unit’s sweet and mellow image! With their powerful high notes matched with delicate tones, they display the wide range of SEVENTEEN’s vocal abilities and make you experience what it’s like to listen to their emotional side. Some of their songs include ‘20′, “Don’t Listen In Secret”, ‘Habit’, and ‘When I Grow Up’.

This unit is the home of honey-like voices, but let’s not forget to avoid messing with them as it is also the home of the most savage members. They can sing you a diss, and you’d still accept it as a compliment.

Performance Unit

Have you ever seen the amazing choreography of “Don’t Wanna Cry”, ‘Very Nice’, ‘Thanks’, and all the other songs the group has promoted? If yes, then take note that those are the brain child of the Performance Unit. Consisting of Hoshi, Jun, THE8, and Dino, these members are the most skilled when it comes to dancing.

As soon as they step on stage, get ready to be sucked in their charisma because they may be cute and bubbly to look at, but their movements are hypnotising. Their skills are so versatile they can either be gentle or hard hitting. But dancing isn’t the only thing they can do – they are also amazing singers and impressive rappers. Remember, they’re called the Performance Unit as they don’t just create dances, they create performances.

It surely is a team jam packed with strengths and abilities that you can feel as soon as you watch them. The units surely bring more than just one dish each to the table, because when they’re together as SEVENTEEN, they make a whole feast.
