[FEATURE] Know Your K-Pop with ‘Hello Hallyu’

Encouraging but realistic words from a fan to a fan. This is what this book is all about.

K-Pop has never stopped conquering the world since the talented, attractive, and hard-working idols have made their way across the globe. Through their music, fans have found friends, shared their joy, and grew up alongside their favorite artists.

Aya Villa-Real has been in the Hallyu universe since 2005 and 15 years later, she’s finally ready to share her knowledge and experiences through her new book ‘Hello Hallyu’.

Released last May 2020 under ABS-CBN Books, Aya has released a book that explores the growth of Korean pop culture in the country. It explores the history and journey of the Korean wave, equiped with funky and colorful layouts and a bunch of photos of Korean idols.

With events and concert-filled years, the life of a K-Pop fan is not just hearts and rainbows. In a segment in her book, she tackled the judgement, bashing, and accusations almost every K-Pop fan has encountered.

“It brought out the best and worst in me and I’m truly appriciative of each experience that I had,” she wrote.

“I know that many of the long standing K-Pop fans like myself know of this journey. We’ve been through judgement and bashing, accused of being crazy fangirls, but the truth is, many will find themselves growing in and with the community.”

If you’re into K-Dramas and Korean films, this book is for you! Aya didn’t fail to mention some notable movies and series you might want to check out, if you haven’t yet.

Fans of Park Bo Gum, EXO, Momoland, and Noir will definitely enjoy the pieces and stories about their visit to Manila. Exclusive interviews, you say? This book has got you covered.

Aya definitely made sure to inform everyone of her own personal journey to tell that “Hey, I know how it feels.” If you’re a much “older” K-Pop fan, this book will bring you so much nostalgia and will make you look back to your own story in the world of Hallyu.

So chin up and proudly say that you’re a fan of Korean pop culture. As the book says, “Let Hallyu inspire you to become who you truly want to be.”

“Hello Hallyu” by Aya Villa-Real is now available in Lazada and Shopee.
