With beat-boxing, singing, b-boying and cooking all packed and sealed in one performance act, ‘CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab’ embodies the true spirit of a blockbuster theatrical masterpiece. Held at Resorts WorId Theatre which had been creatively transformed into a kitchen, the non-verbal musical boosts eat-ertainment to a new level with its comedic plot.
To enrapture the audience with its delectable fusion of culture, Singaporean starlet twins Hayley and Jayley Woo have come on board alongside the Korean cast, and would be taking turns to play the role of Cutie Chef.
The show kicked off with a grand entrance by Green Chef, played by Woo Young Wook, who invited a lucky lady from the audience for a sweet serenade. It then dived into the plot, which mainly revolved around the riotous rivalry between Green Chef and Red Chef, played by Yu Seong Hyun.
Consisting of five different acts, each tackled on a different order made by the audience – the first being sushi, followed by pizza and then chicken noodle. The drama between the two head chefs culminated in the fourth act as they competed in a cook-off to unveil the pride of their signature dishes respectively: Bibimbap and Chilli Crab. After the victor of the day was decided, they broke into a glamourous after-party with their exhilarating beatboxing and b-boying actions.
The cast was nothing short of entertaining with their madcap antics, constantly breaking into song and dance, which kept the audience chuckling at the edge of their seats throughout the show. Not only did the audience get to participate actively which helped to propel the plot, they also had the chance to decide the winner between the rivalling head chefs. This undoubtedly added more spontaneity and spice to the live theatrics, offering the viewers a novel experience.
A hilarious and lively musical, ‘CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab’ is the show to catch with family and friends this season.
