[FEATURE] aespa Is On The Next Level

This is an excerpt of an interview with aespa by Glass Magazine, Summer 2021 issue.

Glass Magazine Announces aespa as the Summer Cover

Glass magazine is delighted to announce that aespa, the South Korean girl group consisting of KARINA, GISELLE, WINTER and NINGNING, as the cover of the summer issue – available worldwide from July 17, 2021.

Debuting only eight months ago with the release of their single, Black Mamba, which beat the record for the fastest K-pop group debut music video to reach 100 million views [in only 52 days], aespa have
been described as the “new beginning of K-Pop”. The band broke their own record with their third single, Next Level, which surpassed 100 million YouTube views just 32 days after its release.

Their astonishing popularity is not solely based on music, however, but aespa’s identity as well. They exist within a futuristic digital universe, in which each of its four members coexist with their alter egos, or avatars. As KARINA, GISELLE, WINTER and NINGNING navigate the real world, their avatar counterparts transport their listeners into a multi-dimensional realm of musical and visual brilliance, redefining the global landscape of music in the process.

Recently unveiled as the new ambassadors of French luxury fashion house Givenchy, the four members showcase the brand’s FW21 collection in our summer issue. When asked about this appointment, they collectively agreed that it is a huge honour as fashion is an important aspect to not only their lives but also the way they portray themselves in aespa. GISELLE tells Glass, “In terms of personal style, I love black clothes. It’s simple but can be portrayed in endless ways. So for a person like me, who has a lot of empathy and a deep level of emotions, it sets a good balance”.
