[FEATURE] 5 Reasons Weki Meki Is Worthy of the Girl Crush Title

With powerful yet fresh concepts, and eight gorgeous girls with various skills, Weki Meki is most definitely one of the most anticipated girl groups in the scene right now! How do they effortlessly carry that girl crush image, you may ask? Scroll down to know more about this incredible group from Fantagio Music!

Funky & Edgy Debut: I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend
Weki Meki has been in everyone’s radar ever since their debut on 08 August 2017 with a funky concept. The group is made up of Choi Yoojung, Kim Doyeon, Ji Suyeon, Elly, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy.

Way before the girls made their official debut, excitement was already buzzing with news of Fantagio debuting a new girl group (previously known as i-Teen). This was even heightened with the involvement of Doyeon and Yoojung in the first ever project group of Produce 101, I.O.I, which led to more recognition of the upcoming group.

Fast forward to their debut release, “I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend” was a fun, edgy track that definitely set the girls apart from others. With its vibrant colors and bouncy beats, it’s enough to keep the listeners interested in these girls, and for everyone to anticipate what they could possibly try next.

Intense Choreography: La La La
Six months after their debut, Weki Meki made their comeback with their single, ‘La La La’ under their second album ‘Lucky’. Compared to their debut track which was popping with eccentric colors and sounds, ‘La La La’ has a classier and stronger vibe to it which helped the girls of Weki Meki gained more fans.

Fans were completely enthralled with how slick and clean-cut their choreography is for the upbeat sounds of ‘La La La’ after the release of their dance practice video. This proved that Weki Meki definitely has what it takes to be a rising girl group.

Fresh & Powerful: Fandom Colors
What’s more exciting than getting an official fandom name and color as a rookie group? As a gift on their anniversary, Weki Meki announced that their fans shall officially be called ‘Ki-Ling‘ — a mix between Weki Meki and Darling. It is also a play on the words “key ring” which means the girls just want to always have their fans with them wherever they may go!

Additionally, the colors ‘Cherry Tomato‘ and ‘Vibrant Yellow‘ were also announced as Weki Meki’s official colors which signifies the fresh and powerful image of the eight girls. Doesn’t that color combination look so unique and cool? 😀

Stronger Than Ever: WJMK
In a time where competitions have become so pressuring and stressful, it was such a delight for fans and K-pop listeners when the WJMK unit was announced.

WJMK, consisting of Doyeon and Yoojung of Weki Meki, and SeolA and Luda of WJSN, is a special project unit between two of the brightest girl groups of today. In line with the song’s lyrics, “Strong” is a refreshing and heart-fluttering single that really highlights the charm from the four girls. As part of the unit’s promotions, fans were also able to see them cuddle up with each other in a V LIVE LieV broadcast. With such a short promotion schedule, WJMK has definitely left us wanting for more.

There’s No Stopping Weki Meki: KISS, KICKS
Ki-lings are counting down the days until Weki Meki finally comes back with their newest single, ‘CRUSH‘! Their first single album, ‘KISS, KICKS,’ is set to drop on 11 October 2018 with three new tracks — two of which Yoojung participated in the rap-making. It has been incredibly exciting to see the eight girls in fierce, edgy style with on-point fashion and makeup that we cannot wait to hear their new song. As an icing on top, Fantagio just recently dropped a new M/V teaser that just speaks volumes to their girl crush concept!
