[FEATURE] 3 Songs to Hype You Up Before SE SO NEON’s Concert in Manila

Amidst the continuous booming popularity of K-Pop music worldwide, comes the South Korean indie rock band SE SO NEON. Dubbed as the “New Wave of New Wave”, band members Hwang So Yoon and Park Hyun Jin draw inspirations from lo-fi and vintage sound and experiments with blues and synths. 

Since their debut in 2017, the band has received various accolades such as winning Rookie of the Year and Best Rock Song of The Year at the Korean Popular Music Awards, and being selected as a global artist for popular guitar brand Fender.

Here are three of our favourite songs from the band’s amazing discography to get you in the mood for their first ever Manila concert.

Winter

Winter is coming and SE SO NEON’s got you covered to battle the seasonal blues. Despite the sorrowful lyrics about an unrequited love, So Yoon’s lush vocals are sure to make one feel warm and cozy. It’s a perfect song to listen to while drinking a warm cup of chocolate by the fireplace.

A Long Dream

This song catapulted SE SO NEON to popularity and it’s obvious why. The guitar and lowkey bass of the song together create an ambience of nostalgia. Make sure to add this song to your night drive playlist!

Do you ever sometimes get too overwhelmed with people’s feelings that you just want to throw your care out the window? That’s exactly what this song is about! The upbeat synth and playful electronic drums along with the fade ins and outs feel like pushing the buttons looking for the perfect song on the radio one perfect summer day.

Smoke Sprite (feat. RM of BTS)

So Yoon, the vocalist of Se So Neon, and RM, leader of the world-renowned K-Pop boy band BTS, have collaborated for this song which is the title track of the former’s solo album, Episode 1: Love.

Their friendship goes way back in 2017 when RM recommended SE SO NEON’s The Wave in one of his live broadcasts. Since then, the two were seen consistently supporting each other’s music.
