[SINGAPORE] THE LIBRARIAN WE ALL NEED: BYEON WOO SEOK RETURNS WITH HIS SECRET LIBRARY

Two years after his last visit, Byeon Woo Seok finally returned to Singapore, and this time, he came bearing a little secret. The 2026 Byeon Woo Seok Asia Fanmeeting Tour <The Secret Library> in Singapore welcomed the actor to a completely sold-out venue at The Star Theatre, with thousands of his fans (Tong Tongs) turning up to meet the librarian we all wish we had.

If anyone thought that the two years away would make Singapore Tong Tongs any less excited, they clearly have not heard the screams at The Star Theatre. Right on the dot at 7:30PM, it was time to open the doors to The Secret Library. As the lights dimmed, Byeon Woo Seok made his grand entrance onto the stage, opening with ‘Flower Road‘ to officially kick off the fanmeeting.

Looking every bit like he had stepped straight out of a romance novel, the actor arrived in a striking red wool long-sleeved top, bringing an instant burst of warmth and colour to the stage. After the long wait, Byeon Woo Seok was finally back in Singapore; this time, the library was open, the librarian had arrived, and Tong Tongs were ready to check him out.

SHHH… WE’VE GOT OUR FIRST SECRET

After wrapping up his opening performance, Byeon Woo Seok reappeared on stage with a stack of books, officially checking in as the librarian of The Secret Library. The actor then shared how excited he was to meet Tong Tongs again after two years and hoped to have lots of fun together that night. When asked what he had done since arriving in Singapore and whether he had any favourite memories so far, he shared that he had already enjoyed some chilli crab and even took a walk around Singapore’s famous spots. When asked where he went, he cheekily replied, “Everyone knows though?”, causing the theatre to erupt in laughter.

As for why he chose a library as the theme for the fanmeeting, the actor explained that he wanted to create a collection of memories during his tour, with each book representing a special moment along the way. When tasked with picking up the first book, things quickly became a little chaotic as he dropped quite a few of them along the way. But rather than being flustered, Byeon Woo Seok simply responded adorably in English, “It’s okay.”

The next question asked about a simple routine that makes him happy, Byeon Woo Seok shared that he likes to monitor himself on social media after the tour and checking out the reaction of Tong Tongs. He also recalled being very nervous during his Singapore fanmeeting two years ago. This time around, however, he has been trying his best to look at everyone in the audience, sharing that he has become more comfortable with the Tong Tongs and can now enjoy connecting with them even more.

When asked about things he can “put up with,” Byeon Woo Seok found himself struggling to think of an answer. April (host) encouraged him to take his time and struggle a little longer, while he adorably changed his poses as he tried to come up with something.

Eventually, he shared that he would like to eat fruits before going to sleep, but because he is always so sleepy, he often ends up skipping it. His priority is getting to bed earlier so he can enjoy a sweeter sleep. While on the topic of fruits one of the Tong Tongs’ signs caught their attention, which led to the topic of watermelon. Byeon Woo Seok mentioned that he was upset that it was not in season, but April quickly pointed out that in Singapore, watermelon season is basically 24/7. Thinking that mangosteen was the one in season, Byeon Woo Seok became even more interested when he realised it was actually watermelon. He then said that if he had the time, he would definitely go and have some.

When it comes down to it, there is one thing Byeon Woo Seok simply cannot stand giving up: his sleep. No matter how tempting the fruits may be, getting enough sleep comes first for this sleepy librarian. April cheekily suggested that this might just be the secret behind his towering height, saying that he must be so tall because he sleeps so much.

TURNING THE PAGE TO ANOTHER SECRET

Another secret was finally revealed, and this one had Byeon Woo Seok looking adorably embarrassed. He confessed that he loves Woo Che Tong (Official Fanclub) more than anything, before cheekily clarifying to April that the confession was not directed at her, but was meant for all his fans. With the actor often filling his content with red hearts and sending plenty of them throughout the tour, it seems the love has been showing all along.

When asked if there was a new pose the Tong Tongs could do to recognise each other if they happened to meet on the streets, the actor did not think a new pose was necessary. Instead, he said they did not have to do anything at all because once their eyes meet, that is more than enough. He also took responsibility for the original iconic pose Tong Tongs already know so well: jumping on the spot while chanting “Tong Tong Tong” three times when they meet. Byeon Woo Seok admitted that it was his fault for coming up with the pose in the first place, especially since it can be a little awkward to do in public. Tong Tongs then came up with another suggestion: how about flying kisses when they meet? Byeon Woo Seok joked that people around them might look at them strangely if they actually did that in public. In the end, the perfect secret greeting was settled on: eye contact and a wink. It is subtle enough that no one else can see it, while still being enough for Byeon Woo Seok and his Tong Tongs to recognise each other. After all, some secrets are better kept between two people.

For the rest of 2026, Byeon Woo Seok shared that his goal is to wrap up his ongoing drama filming for ‘Solo Leveling’ well and for fans to look forward to what is coming next from him.

ACTING CHALLENGE: BYEON WOO SEOK ENTERS HIS SINGLISH ERA

The fun continued when Byeon Woo Seok took on an acting challenge, but with a very Singaporean twist. He was tasked with demonstrating the different ways to say “okay lah” in Singlish, depending on whether he was feeling happy, sad or angry. After seeing the demonstrations, the actor looked genuinely in disbelief, clearly questioning whether this was really how Singaporeans said it. Despite his obvious distrust of the challenge, he still gave it his best for Tong Tongs, before eventually collapsing in embarrassment.

Two lucky Tong Tongs were then invited onstage to act out scenes with him. One fan even confessed that she hoped her husband would not be angry about the whole situation, prompting Byeon Woo Seok to quickly apologise in English with a sweet, “I’m sorry.” The actor also had plenty to say about his Singapore Tong Tongs. He commented that they were surprisingly good at acting, adding that fans usually become much quieter and softer with their cheers when they see others come up on stage. Singapore Tong Tongs, however, were a completely different story. With the theatre staying loud and energetic, Byeon Woo Seok admitted that he found it fascinating and hope to act with the fans again.

Not stopping there, the actor also took on the viral ‘Moshi Moshi‘ TikTok challenge. He attempted to learn the challenge through SEVENTEEN members DK and Seungkwan’s version, making the challenge an especially fun moment for the Korean loving crowd. He even did it twice because he wanted to try it from the centre of the stage. Although he fell a beat behind at times, Byeon Woo Seok powered through and gave it his all for his Tong Tongs, proving once again that he was willing to take on just about any challenge for his fans.

The actor then wrapped up the segment with ‘Sudden Shower‘, his iconic OST from the hit drama ‘Lovely Runner‘, which shot Byeon Woo Seok straight into the hearts of viewers everywhere. Hearing the song live again felt like a little trip down memory lane, bringing back all the feels and giving Singapore Tong Tongs a chance to see a little bit of their favourite Sun Jae once more.

HEARTS, CHILI CRABS & A WHOLE LOT OF CHAOS

Returning to the stage in a black leather jacket, Byeon Woo Seok sang ‘No Fate‘ with plenty of emotion before teasing the crowd with, “Shall we meet now?” He then followed it up with ‘Loveholic‘, another OST from the hit drama as he got up close and personal with the fans on the first floor, sending hearts flying in every direction.

The actor then took on a rather Singaporean challenge: catching chilli crabs to win gifts for his Tong Tongs. Having already eaten three chilli crabs the night before, Byeon Woo Seok joked that there was nothing left for him to catch. When paper chilli crabs suddenly appeared instead, he could not help but laugh at the unexpected twist.

Still, he gave the challenge his all, even attempting it twice. There were a few cheeky rule-breaking moments along the way, but the fans ultimately decided that he had won, especially after seeing how hard he was perspiring. Naturally, they then tried to tempt him into taking off his jacket, only for the actor to mischievously reject fans with a playful finger gesture, saying, “No.”

The segment then took a sweeter turn as he read messages from his Tong Tongs. Ever so careful with each piece of paper, the actor made sure not to rip any of the messages, taking his time with every note from his fans.

Next came a challenge that Tong Tongs had been waiting for: Byeon Woo Seok was going to make his famous egg recipe live on stage for three lucky fans. He prepared eggs for three lucky Tong Tongs, repeatedly saying their names as he wanted to make sure he remembered them.

His careful attention to each fan made the moment even sweeter. Of course, that was not the end of the disasters. The egg he cracked came with an unexpected bonus: a piece of eggshell dropped straight into the mixture. Byeon Woo Seok tried his best to fish it out without getting caught on camera, only for him to accidentally drop the chopsticks moments later, adding yet another mishap to the growing list. Another problem soon arose when the fire turned out to be far too high. April quickly came to the rescue with a very Singaporean explanation: Singaporeans like things fast, so even the fire had to be hot. Byeon Woo Seok, meanwhile, admitted that he could not multitask and that he normally did not make mistakes, leaving him completely baffled by everything that was happening that day.

Despite the series of mishaps, the actor continued cooking earnestly and carefully prepared the eggs for his lucky Tong Tongs. To finish them off with a little extra love, he even added a heart-shaped ketchup design, proving that no amount of egg disasters could stop this chef from serving up something made with heart.

TIME TO CHECK OUT OF THE LIBRARY

Before the night came to an end, 10 lucky Tong Tongs were picked to win signed posters from Byeon Woo Seok. The actor then wrapped up the fanmeeting with ‘Fate Line‘, his final serenade of the night dedicated to his Singapore fans.

During his ending ment, Byeon Woo Seok admitted that he had lost track of how much time had passed. The actor shared that he had heard it rained the day before and worried that it might rain again today, making it difficult for fans to travel to and from the venue. Thankfully, that was not the case. As the fanmeeting drew to a close, he admitted that he had completely lost track of time. Before he knew it, the day had already become another precious memory for him. Looking ahead, Byeon Woo Seok shared his hopes of meeting his Singapore Tong Tongs again, telling them that he hoped they would come and play with him once more. Promising to work hard and return to Singapore as soon as possible, he also asked fans to look forward to his new drama, which he is currently working hard to film.

“Let’s meet the next time,” he said, before giving everyone a cute little “Bye Bye” in English, leaving his Tong Tongs with one final promise to look forward to their next meeting.

Two years may have passed since Byeon Woo Seok last met his Singapore TongTongs, but this fanmeeting proved that the love between them has remained just as strong with a bigger venue. With a new drama on the way and a promise to return as soon as he can, there are still plenty of stories waiting to be written. For now, Singapore Tong Tongs can hold on to this chapter and the memories made, until it is time to turn the page and meet their favourite librarian again.
