Filipino EXO-Ls were treated to an unforgettable night on October 19, 2024, when the charistmatic Chanyeol held his highly anticipated solo concert, 2024 Chanyeol Live Tour: 都市風景 (City-scape), at the iconic Araneta Coliseum in Manila. This concert marked his return to the Philippines after a fan meeting in December 2023, and fans were beyond excited to see their idol once again.
Manila was the third stop on Chanyeol’s world tour, following Seoul and Ho Chi Minh City. From the moment he stepped on stage, the energy in the arena was electric, with fans chanting his name, eager to hear his voice and see him perform live.
As soon as Chanyeol appeared on stage, the deafening cheers of fans filled the Araneta Coliseum. With a big smile, he greeted the Filipino crowd with the warm phrase, “Kamusta? Na-miss ko kayo (How are you? I missed you)”. It was clear that Chanyeol had felt the love from Filipino fans during his previous visits, and that he was thrilled to be back.
He shared that he’d been enjoying Filipino food, especially his favorite mangoes and he felt right at home in the Philippines, which made the night even more special for his fans.
A High-Energy Start: Chanyeol’s Solo Hits
The concert kicked off with an explosive energy as Chanyeol performed Back Again and Good Enough, two tracks from his solo work that set the tone for the rest of the night. The fans were instantly hooked, and many sang along as the lights flickered in sync with the beat.
Next, he slowed things down a bit with the emotional track Stay With Me, a fan favorite from the hit 2016 K-drama Goblin. The emotional connection between Chanyeol and his fans was evident as they sang every word back to him.
Surprise of the Night: Chanyeol Covers Raining in Manila
But the real highlight of the night came when Chanyeol surprised everyone by performing Raining in Manila, a hit song by the Filipino band Lola Amour. The crowd screamed their hearts out with excitement the moment the familiar chords began, and Chanyeol’s rendition brought a fresh, heartfelt energy to the beloved track.
What made the moment even more magical was when the fans chanted “Isa pa! (One more!)” asking for a repeat performance. And without hesitation, Chanyeol delighted the crowd with a second rendition of Raining in Manila, making the night even more memorable for Filipino fans.
Chanyeol’s Full EXO Experience: Hits That Never Get Old
As if that wasn’t enough, Chanyeol also performed several classic EXO hits that had the entire stadium on their feet. The crowd sang along to iconic songs like Lotto, Tempo, Monster, Obsession, Growl, and Hear Me Out.
It wasn’t just a solo concert—it was a celebration of Chanyeol’s entire career, including his work with EXO. Fans were thrilled to experience the energy of his solo music and the explosive power of EXO tracks all in one night.
Personal Moments: Behind the Scenes in Manila
Between songs, Chanyeol gave fans a glimpse into his time in Manila, sharing personal photos from his visit. These behind-the-scenes moments made the concert feel even more intimate, as fans were able to connect with their idol on a more personal level.
A Heartfelt Goodbye: “I Don’t Want to Go Home”
As the concert neared its end, Chanyeol performed several more tracks from his latest album Black Out, including the title track of the same name, SSFW, I’m on Your Side Too, Just as Usual, and Hasta La Vista. Fans couldn’t get enough of his music, but as the last song played, it was clear that no one wanted the night to end.
In his final message to the crowd, Chanyeol expressed how much the concert meant to him. “Did you guys make a lot of happy memories? Me too,” he said. “Actually, I’m going back to Korea tonight and I really don’t want to go home. But, of course, if you guys call me back, I’ll fly anytime to be here. Anytime.”
With Chanyeol’s promise to return, fans left Araneta Coliseum already talking about his next visit. The night was a true celebration of Chanyeol’s music and the unbreakable bond between him and his Filipino fans. As he continues his world tour, it’s clear that Chanyeol’s connection with Manila—and his fans here—will only continue to grow stronger.
