Super Junior Members Have Indonesian Names

Super Junior’s YouTube content, Namain Super Junior

It is true that being a K-Pop legend that they are, Super Junior members are from South Korea. On the other hand, it is also true that these men have Indonesian names. Through a content titled Namain Super Junior, which was released on the group’s YouTube page in 2020, the nine members shared their chosen Indonesian names.

Leeteuk has Kadir as his Indonesian name. The name means leader so it fits him well. On the other hand, Donghae chose the name Dimas. Yesung and Shindong got Rangga and Dewo, respectively. Before filming the content, Eunhyuk already had Eko as his local name from the time he became a guest on KBS Radio World. Agung is the name for Siwon, while Krisna is for Ryeowook. Lastly, Indonesian E.L.F.s could refer to Kyuhyun as Hotman.

Do you agree that the names fit each member perfectly, E.L.F.s?

Being in the industry for almost two decades, Super Junior’s popularity in Indonesia is unbeatable. Super Junior is not only known to their loyal fans; K-Pop casual listeners and the general public are also familiar with the group. The huge popularity then leads Siwon, Super Junior’s center and visual, to be the face of some Indonesian products, namely a coconut milk product and an instant noodle product. Because of this, Siwon can be seen in various places in Indonesia!

Multiple Visits to Indonesia

Since 2012, Super Junior has never forgotten to include Indonesia on their concert tour. Super Show 4, which was held on April 27-29, 2012, in Mata Elang International Stadium, marked the first time Super Junior performed in front of Indonesian audience. All thanks to the never-ending support from the fanbase, Super Junior is able to keep on coming back to the tropical country. The group’s most recent solo concert in Indonesia was on September 17, 2022, for Super Show 9.

Besides their solo concerts, the Bonamana singers also visited Indonesia for SMTOWN concerts along with their labelmates. The mega shows were held in 2012 and 2023, both in Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. Not only that, Super Junior also took part in the ASEAN Games closing show in 2018.

The long list proved that Super Junior and Indonesia are not strangers to each other. The bond between the two soon will be even closer as Super Junior will come back for 2024 SUPER JUNIOR <SUPER SHOW SPIN-OFF : Halftime> in Jakarta on September 14, 2024.
