Nobody does concerts like Filipino fans, and Korean hip-hop royalty B.I is here to testify to it.
During the Manila leg of his HYPE UP Tour in Asia last June 9 at SM North EDSA Sky Dome, the all-rounder artist recalled how pleasantly surprised he was at how much his Filipino fans were enjoying themselves at the Overpass: K-pop Music Concert last year.
“I am the one who actually made a rumour to other [Korean] artists that the Philippines is the best country to have fun in a concert,” B.I told his IDs, to which the crowd understandably answered with loud and proud cheers.
Although, fun might still be an understatement of what B.I and his IDs shared that night. The 27-year-old artist offered his fans nothing short of pure three hours of bliss as he performed his hits including BTBT, MICHELANGELO, illa illa, Loved, Dare to Love, and ONE AND ONLY. The crowd also got a treat of B.I’s first Philippine performance of his latest single Tasty.
The Man is Non-Stop
Rest — what rest? It was definitely not an option for Filipino IDs after B.I decided to perform almost 50 songs for his setlist! One electrifying performance after another, B.I made sure IDs in attendance were able to seize every moment of his tour’s Manila stop.
In fact, there were only three quick instances when B.I got to “rest” throughout the night — when his “little brother” and fellow 131 Label artist LEO went solo on stage with tracks Come Closer and Farewell; when he took a group photo with IDs; and when he prepared for the encore stages. Exclude these and it’s dduljunbi unlimited!
(Dduljunbi, according to B.I himself, means “get ready to jump.” It is what B.I tells his IDs to do in order to enjoy his performances.)
IDs’ Request is B.I’s Command
Speaking of encore, it seemed more like a second concert all together as it covered the last hour of the three-hour concert. No wonder IDs didn’t want the night to end!
It is also arguably the most in-demand part of the night as it was when B.I took his time to go around the venue and prove he is the king of fan service.
He went up close and personal with his fans, made swoon-worthy eye contacts, completed countless hand hearts, blessed numerous phones with close up shots of him, and pretty much made sure no Filipino ID in attendance is going home without having a good look at him.
As if those were not enough, B.I also let his fans select which songs to perform for the encore. Choices were made between hype and chill tracks, released and demo, unreleased ones — but regardless of the chosen songs, B.I guaranteed he delivered performances that are nothing short of exhilarating.
As if a cherry-on-top, B.I even granted a very special request from Filipino IDs that made the group photo session extra memorable: instead of taking just a normal group photo, fans wanted a jump shot! Although confused, B.I said, “Let’s try it!” Anything for IDs, indeed!
Long story short, with everything B.I did for his Filipino fans that night, it is safe to say that every ticket became a VIP ticket — and that’s how worth it B.I’s concert was!
After the concert, B.I took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank his Filipino IDs: “Had a blast today spending time with my IDs! Thank you Manila 😉”
The Seoul Story would like to thank Three Angles Production for the media invite!
We’re looking forward to seeing B.I again in Manila soon!
