[PHILIPPINES] Taecyeon’s 2023 Manila Fan Meet: The ‘Hottest’ Has Finally Returned, & We Are More Than ‘OK’ With It

A decade since the last time K-pop boy group 2PM has visited the country, member Ok Taecyeon made sure it was worth the wait as he once again graced the Philippine stage and delivered matchless fan service to Filipino HOTTESTs during his solo fanmeet entitled Taecyeon in Manila: SpecialTY.

Since his debut in 2008, the idol-turned-actor has actively been appearing in various K-Dramas and musicals proving that he has more to offer in his arsenal aside from his good looks and charisma.

Taecyeon opened the show with 2PM’s hits Magic and Anyway. He then proceeded to do his introduction in completed Tagalog and said, “…sobrang masaya ako na makita kayo HOTTEST…” to the fans’ delight as he almost sounded like a native.

He even called himself ‘borta’, which is a local slang term for someone muscular, earning huge laughter from the crowd. He also shared that he is grateful for all the love and hospitality, and the great response from Filipino HOTTESTs.

The fanmeet’s first segment was called SpecialTY – TYMI TYTIME where the idol-actor shared some information about himself. He was given three topics – ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Taecyeon’, and ‘2PM’. He revealed that he was not a fan of coffee, and he first had a taste of the drink in his late 20s and he likes hot over iced Americano.

He also shared the meaning behind the title of his fan meeting tour SpecialTY and jokingly said that there was no special reason except he just wanted to add his initials – TY. On a more serious note, Taecyeon said it was because he really wanted the fan meet to be a special time with the fans.

After the talk segment, a board full of handwritten notes from fans was revealed. Taecyeon randomly picked up some of them and read them aloud – there were sweet messages and some even included selca and hug requests with him.

Taecyeon’s fan service was truly on another level as he not only granted these requests, but he even went above and beyond by personally going to the fan’s seat instead of asking them to come onstage. He also did these several times all throughout the show to hand out special gifts and souvenirs to his fans.

After all the fan interactions, Taecyeon was far from done as he performed more 2PM songs like Champagne, Toc Toc Toc, Jump and Hands Up. And to the surprise and joy of Filipino HOTTEST, he also performed the hit Filipino song Forevermore.

Before the fan meeting ended, Taecyeon promised that he will be back to the Philippines together with his fellow 2PM members: “It’s going to take a while, but we will be back as six soon, I promise.”
