Malaysia welcomed WOODZ to the country for the first time this June as part of of his world tour in Kuala Lumpur! Read on as we recap what went on during the press conference and concert.
D-1: WOODZ Charming the Local Media
WOODZ’s exclusive press conference was held on June 10, 2023 which was a day before the concert. This also marked his first meeting with local media and Malaysian MOODZ who won the VIP fan benefit through a lucky draw where they were able to interact closely with the artist.
With his newly released album OO-LI last April, he shared that a lot of thoughts and efforts were included while preparing for this comeback. He explained that ‘OO-LI’ which sounds like ‘us’ in Korean meant that he wished everyone would enjoy his performances and have fun together throughout the world tour, especially in Malaysia.
He shared his latest experience in Jakarta was indeed memorable and hoped that he could spend some time in Kuala Lumpur as he would love to visit the night market and try local foods such as ‘Nasi Goreng’ (fried rice) and ‘Nasi Lemak’ (coconut rice) which were recommended by his beloved fans.
Before the press conference came to an end, WOODZ managed to learn a few local phrases spontaneously to express his gratitude to his fans for coming. Safe to say, he can now fluently say ‘Apa Khabar Sayang’ (how are you my love) and ‘Bye Sayang’ (bye my love) in Bahasa Melayu and definitely made the crowd in love fever.
D-Day: Warm Welcome by Malaysian MOODZ
As soon as the clock hit 6PM, the crowd screamed enthusiastically as WOODZ opened the stage with Busted, fresh off his latest mini album OO-LI, followed by Hijack, and Love Me Harder. After greeting the crowd, he continued the momemtum with WAITING and Chaser.
After a short break, WOODZ returned and performed his heavier tracks such as Who Knows, Dirt on my leather, and Trigger, which had its own encore twice!
The audience were then surprised with WOODZ’s perfect Malay as he sang a short cover of local singer Ismail Izzani’s track Luar Biasa before serenading us with Multiply. Prior to performing his next track ABYSS, WOODZ mentioned that the song was initially written as an emotional song. However, at this particular moment with fans, he was just filled with happiness.
A Roller-Coaster of Emotions
After a costume change, WOODZ came back on stage with his dancers as he performed Kiss of Fire and FEEL LIKE before burning up the stage further with pop tracks On my own, Sour Candy and BUMP BUMP (which also had its own encore!). Despite having a cold that day, he persevered and powered through with his performance of Drowning, earning full support from the crowd!
While performing Journey, WOODZ was pleasantly surprised when the audience held out their support banners which said “Just like a clover, we will be Seungyoun’s happiness ☘️.” Needless to say, WOODZ was touched by this gesture and continuously thanked fans in attendance for the endless support.
A True Rockstar
Cheers were soon heard filling the concert hall calling for an encore and soon enough, WOODZ reappeared on stage. The energy in the venue skyrocketed as he performed I Hate You while interacting with the crowd and carried on with his song Better and Better. He continued to show appreciation for the support banners and did not forget to take a photo before officially ending the concert with a bang with Ready to Fight as his final track of the night.
It was truly a splendid 2-hour concert with non-stop hits from the talented artist and we are already looking forward to his next visit to Malaysia. We would like to thank iMe Malaysia for having us!
