[PHILIPPINES] “Love Yourself,” Jung Hae In tells his Filipino fans during #OneSummerNightInManila

Song numbers and serenades are staple items on a setlist of a typical fan-meeting. But it is very rare that an artist dedicates a whole corner of his fan-meeting to listen to his fans’ real-life problems, and then sincerely give heartwarming advice to them.

And Jung Hae In did just that.

The 31-year old actor was charisma personified: he was a shy fluff ball throughout the night, all the while an undeniably gorgeous gentleman, with his well-built body perfectly fitted by his simple dress shirts.

He wasn’t much of a talker; rarely initiating a comment unless asked a question by the host. His answers were short but definitely sweet–perhaps because he let his adorable eye smiles and cute giggles do the talking for him. It was a clever move–saying the fans were so endeared by his puppy-like smiles is an understatement.

It was like an awkward but beautiful and memorable first date between Hae In and his Filipino fans — except it was not.

This September 28 fan-meeting was Hae In’s second time meeting his fans here in the Philippines, the first one being in June last year. But the actor did not fall short in showcasing yet again his fresh charms and warm presence that night.

The fan-meeting introduced the crowd to a different Hae In, through numerous trivia about the actor not a lot of people would normally know about him. Here are some of Hae In’s TOO MUCH INFORMATION (TMI’s):

Of course, as much as there is to learn about Hae In, the actor also had so much to give to his Filipino supporters. Fan-service was overflowing that night.

He serenaded fans with songs such as Paul Kim’s “Every Day, Every Moment” and “Where The Wind Blows.” He also played a series of games–even unreluctantly taking on the Bottle Cap Challenge–only to end up losing and doing penalties which are not much of a punishment but are rather gifts to his fans.

He himself designed a T-shirt which was eventually raffled to lucky fans, alongside three rare and signed posters of “One Spring Night,” a special “Good Night~” video, a chance to take a polaroid photo with Hae In, a 3-second hug (which drew jealous squeals from everyone in the crowd), and a signed dedication from the actor.

However, if there is one most affecting and heartening part of the night, it is definitely the special corner where Hae In, dressed up as his pharmacist character Yoo Ji-ho from One Spring Night, gave ‘prescriptions’ to selected fans who are troubled and are in need of advice.

To the fan who was having a hard time as she was uncertain of the life path she is currently taking and is still in the process of finding her dream, Hae In said:

“It’s important to explore the things you are interested in. Try things you enjoy, and perhaps through that process, you’ll be able to find something you’re good at.”

Another fan drew laughter from the audience as she apparently broke up with her boyfriend because he does not support her being a fangirl of Hae In. However, Hae In did not take the matter lightly as he took his time in giving much thought on his response:

“You love me so much, that’s why you’re here to see me. But I hope you get to a place where you love yourself more than anyone else.”

The last fan had concerns regarding her son who will not wake up on time despite setting consecutive alarms, but would only wake up easily if it is his girlfriend who plays as his morning alarm. Hae In, who also is NOT a morning person, ended the special corner with a funny but practical advice to the mother fan: Make her son’s girlfriend wake him up!

As the fan meeting was about to end, Hae In confessed that a lot is going on inside his head every time he needs to say goodbye to his fans, specially since he is an actor who is rarely on stage. He thanked the crowd who all chose to be with him in a precious weekend. He also announced that he is working on a new movie and a new series which everyone could look forward to.

“I would like to work on more projects because I want to have a reason to come back to the Philippines and see you all again,” he said with much affection to the people in front of him who have nothing but love for him.

And of course, for such an extremely sweet man like him, Hae In has one precious wish for his fans:

“My biggest wish is for you to love yourself.

You need to love yourself to be able to love others.”

With one last thank you, Hae In did not forget to tell his Filipino fans the one thing they have always been wanting to hear from him that night:

“I will never forget you. I hope you’re always healthy and not get sick, so that you will be happy in your lives. Mahal kita.

The fan-meeting ended, with every single one of the crowd looking forward to a third date, in the near future, with the bashful yet warmhearted and humble actor from South Korea.
