[INDONESIA] A Festive Day with Red Velvet at ‘Fan Event’ Press Conference

As a part of the roadshow for ‘Super K-Pop Festival 2019 in Indonesia‘ happening at the end of this month, Red Velvet held an exclusive Fan Event last Tuesday at Raffles Hotel Jakarta. Before the event, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri went on to greet the local media.

Leader Irene described the meaning of their latest release, ‘Umpah Umpah‘. She said it was a Korean saying when they first learn swimming and practice regular breathing underwater. She also explained this song was meant for ReVeluvs who were drowning in the sea of Red Velvet’s love, so they want to teach the fans how to breathe by saying Umpah Umpah. Aside from the title track, Seulgi picked ‘Love is The Way‘ as the song she listens to a lot because the musical-like instrumentals always put her in a good mood.

Red Velvet sent an endless praise to Indonesian ReVeluvs for their enormous support. They said the amount of people welcoming them at the airport on the night of their arrival truly surprised them, especially when the crowd started singing ‘Happy Birthday‘ to Joy. Seulgi also pointed out how fans sang along and answered very well in Korean that it made them curious if they were really fluent with the language. ReVeluvs’ reactions had Red Velvet feel so thankful and they thought it was a good idea to have a solo concert in Indonesia.

Picking fried rice as her favourite Indonesian food, Seulgi said that Indonesian fried rice was the most delicious fried rice she ever tried. When asked what was something unforgettable (referring to Umpah Umpah lyric) for them, Joy revealed that their first concert left a very deep meaning, as it brought back memories from their trainee days. She also added that compared to their debut, now they were more relaxed when performing on stage. Furthermore, aside from Red Velvet’s summer queen image, the group wanted to be remembered as a bright group who could always be a reliable source of happiness to ReVeluvs. Wendy also brought fans’ hopes up when she said they were open to any collaboration project with another artist.

Joy personally disclosed that she wished to redo ‘Be Natural’ mature concept, because she was underaged back then, so she was confident she will do much better now. Meanwhile Seulgi picked ‘Ice Cream Cake‘ as a concept she wanted to try again. At last, they unveiled that they would deliver two songs that have never been sung in Indonesia before. Red Velvet couldn’t wait to meet Indonesian ReVeluvs at the Fan Event later that night as well as at Super K-Pop Festival.
