[SINGAPORE] Day 1 of HallyuPopFest has Fans Starstrucked

K-Pop fans in Singapore were in for a treat last weekend at HallyuPopFest 2019. The biggest K-Pop event in Singapore and Southeast Asia was held over two days in Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 25 and 26 May. Boasting a star-studded line-up of up-and-coming rookie groups and well-established idols, HallyuPopFest was truly a wonderful experience for fans here.

GWSN

It was the first time the seven girls of GWSN were in Singapore and we could tell that they were excited to be part of the event this year! Seoryoung, Seokyoung, Anne, Minju, SoSo, Miya, and Lena danced and sang to several of their songs much to Groos’ delight! Opening up the showcase with their debut track “Puzzle Moon”, the girls showed off their dance moves as they moved to the beat.

GWSN also performed “Yolowa”, “Melting Point” and “Pinky Star” to lots of loud cheers. The audience loved their fantasy-themed songs which featured sweet melodies to strong beats. The girls also spoke in English throughout their segment during the afternoon showcase in an effort to engage fans. 

A.C.E
The boys of A.C.E were in town a while back ago to meet their fans as a prelude to HallyuPopFest. However, the short gap in between the events certainly made Choices miss A.C.E even more! Jun, Byeongkwan, Donghun and Chan danced and sang powerfully to “Cactus”, “Take Me Higher” and “Callin'” as Choices cheered them on with loud fanchants. Unfortunately, Wow was unable to attend the festival but the rest of the members made up for his absence by showering fans with tons of fan-service.

A.C.E made the effort to connect to local fans by singing their own rendition of local Mandopop star, JJ Lin’s “Always Online”, captivating the hearts of the audience! Finally to end the showcase, A.C.E performed their latest title track, “Under Cover” for Singapore Choices. With the number of fans who turned up for them at the showcase, we certainly hope to see them again in Singapore for their own solo fanmeeting! 

If you thought the showcase was amazing, another spectacular line-up awaited fans during the evening concert. With each artiste performing for about thirty minutes, it was like a mini-concert within a concert for the excited audience. Curious to know more about what went on that evening? 

N.Flying

Being the only band in the line-up, N.Flying captured everyone’s attention with their instruments and amazing vocals. The band consists of members Lee Seung Hyub, Cha Hun, Kim Jae Hyun and Yoo Hwe Seung. They started off the set with “How R U Today”, before continuing with “Leave It”, “Rooftop” and “Spring Memories“. Everyone got excited upon hearing the opening to “Rooftop”! This was the song which suddenly went viral after N.Flying ended promotions for that particular comeback.

N.Fias were able to enjoy the band’s rock songs, but also its slower-paced and sweet ones like “Spring Memories”. N.Flying continued their set with “Flowerwork”, “Say Goodbye” and “The Real”. “The Real”, was another song which had everyone dancing along as the boys waved goodbye to the crowd. 

GWSN

GWSN made a surprise appearance after N.Flying was done and no one had expected the girls to appear on the stage! They had everyone cheering for them with their addictive “Pinky Star”, and the bass-heavy “Yolowa”. We are pretty sure that Groos were amazed to see GWSN again after the afternoon showcase!

OH MY GIRL

Opening their set with “SSFWL”, OH MY GIRL captivated the crowd with their synchronised dance moves, all dressed in red. OH MY GIRL consists of members Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Jiho, Binnie and Arin. Miracles were in for a treat that night as OH MY GIRL performed “Love Speed”, “Liar Liar”, “Secret Garden” and “Real World”. The fan chants were extra loud during “Liar Liar”, a song which even non-fans would have heard at least once in their lifetime!

Unfortunately, the fun came to an end with their last song, “Remember Me”, which is probably a subtle message for fans to await the return of OH MY GIRL and to not forget them in the meantime!

NU’EST

The crowd went wild when NU’EST appeared on the stage. It was the first time in a while for NU’EST to perform in Singapore as five members. NU’EST consists of members JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun and Ren. The HallyuPopFest stage had everyone excited to see them perform live as an entire team!

From the moment the boys started with “Hello”, L.O.Λ.Es went all out with their fan chants and cheers. NU’EST’s latest title track “BET BET”, is another amazing number which induced lots of screams from the audience. 

Other songs like “Love Paint”, “Segno” and “Look” were performed that night. Aron promised that NU’EST will be coming again to meet fans at the exact same venue soon! Shortly after, NU’EST’s official Twitter account announced the group’s upcoming world tour locations, with Singapore being one of the stops. Looks like we will be seeing NU’EST on our shores really soon!

Hyolyn

Formerly a member of girl group SISTAR, Hyolyn is back in Singapore as a solo artiste.  She had successfully cemented her reputation as one of the sexiest and talented solo artistes in Korea, with songs which showcase both her beautiful raspy voice and sexy dance moves!

The heat was turned up from the moment Hyolyn appeared to perform “Paradise”. Hits like “Ma Boy” and “Shake It” had the stadium singing along. Nary a beat was missed! A great summer bop never gets old! “See Sea”, “Good Bye” and “Dally” were among some of the other songs performed by Hyolyn. She also performed “Good Bye”, an OST from the hit drama, “Master’s Sun”, and had everyone’s hearts breaking as they listened to Hyolyn’s raw and emotional voice belting out each note perfectly.

WINNER

As the final act for the night, WINNER set the stage ablaze as they kicked off their set with “Love Me Love Me”! WINNER, consisting of members Jinwoo, Seunghoon, Mino and Seungyoon, was definitely one of the most anticipated group on that day!

INNERCIRCLEs were thoroughly entertained by the performances prepared by the four charming men, as they set a killer streak with “Ah Yeah”, “Empty”, “Everyday” and “Millions”. Everyone in the stadium couldn’t help but to sing along to “Millions”, a catchy and cheerful song which lightened up the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, it was almost time to say Goodbye and WINNER performed their all-time crowd favourite,  “Really Really”, and ended the concert on a high note. 

At the end of the show, all of the artistes went up onstage to bid fans goodbye, cheering them up with their cute antics as they ran across the stage while bursts of confetti were blown up into the air. It was an event which is etched deeply into the minds of fans, who went home all geared up for Day 2 of HallyuPopFest!
