[SINGAPORE] Yoona & SONEs Spend A Splendid Night At ‘So Wonderful Day #STORY_1’

Talent, beauty, character – you name it, Yoona’s got it. Girls’ Generation member, Yoona, kept her promise to SONEs to return to Singapore after her last appearance in July for H:CONNECT, and treated fans to a fulfilling 2.5 hours at her Singapore stop for her fanmeet tour, ‘SO WONDERFUL DAY STORY_#1’.

The fanmeet started with Yoona’s sweet vocals for the song ‘When The Wind Blows’, as she was donned in a black floral dress, accentuating her long and slim figure. Her melodic voice, coupled with a sky backdrop, made Yoona shine on stage.

After her first song, Yoona greeted her fans in as many languages as she could – Korean, English, Mandarin and Malay. It showed that Yoona was a sweet and thoughtful artiste who put herself in the shoes of fans who struggled with understanding Korean. In fact, she has been a diligent learner of Mandarin and has proved her efforts to be fruitful as she could understand a few of the Mandarin words the emcee used.

In an effort to update her fans on her schedules, Yoona mentioned that she has been busy with filming, Oh!GG promotions as well as travelling for fanmeet tour, but despite all this, has been consistently updating her Instagram. This lead to the next segment ‘#Yoongstagram’, named after the hashtag that Yoona always used whenever she updated on Instagram. She said she empathised with fans that it might be difficult to see her often, and thus used social media as a way to connect with her fans worldwide. When asked for tips on taking good selfies, Yoona said all that matters is a nice filter!

Yoona was also taught a few Singlish phrases, of which she picked up and used them like a local. She commented that the energy of Singapore fans was ‘shiok’ and replied ‘abuden’ when asked if she would return again. While answering a few questions posed by fans, Yoona explained how this fanmeet tour came about, that it started in Korea as she wanted to celebrate her birthday with her Korean fans, but decided that she should do it with fans from other countries as well.

After a stunning performance of ‘To You’, a song written by Yoona during her time in “Hyori’s Homestay”, Yoona gave a hand at making a famous local dish – Rojak. Eight lucky fans were chosen on stage to play games with her in hopes of winning 2 boxes of Yoona’s handmade rojak, and Yoona was thoughtful and considerate throughout the games as she passed questions that she felt were too tough for the fans.

Proving that Yoona has got all it takes to be an idol, she also prepared a dance piece to Meghan Trainor’s ‘Watch Me Do’. As the fanmeet drew to a close, a video montage was screened, which captured Yoona’s growth as an artiste, from being a member of Girls’ Generation, to the on-screen characters she has played, to the artiste that she is today, while keeping something inside her that never changed – her sincerity and kindness. Yoona was almost touched to tears and was fighting to hold them back, as fans raised a banner that said they will go on with her forever.

Yoona expressed that she is always thankful to be a part of Girls’ Generation, and glad that fans are proud of them as they are proud of their fans. She performed her last piece ‘Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway’, and made her final bow, ending the fanmeet for the night.

We would like to extend our thanks to IMC Live Global for the media invite to the fanmeet! 🙂
