The Singapore Preliminary of the 2018 Changwon K-Pop World Festival will be held on 23rd June 2018! Last year saw Singapore’s very own Akif Halqi being crowned ‘Top Vocalist’ at the festival in Changwon, on top of being the nation’s first grand finalist for the particular event.
Unlike last year, the upcoming audition is now open to anyone who works, studies and resides in Singapore, with the exception of tourists and those of Korean descent. However, interested applicants with only one parent with a Korean citizenship are welcome to apply.
Interested applicants may compete under two categories – vocal and dance performance. Applicants will then be invited to battle it out on stage at the Singapore Preliminary of the 2018 Changwon K-Pop World Festival, where the top two acts (from Vocals and Performance category combined) will move on to participate in the next round on 5th October 2018, representing Singapore in the competition against their international counterparts.
Performance groups are all required to lip-sync to their songs live onstage. There are no restrictions with regards to the number of members for performance groups, though it is strongly recommended that they have the same number of members as the original K-Pop groups whose songs they will be covering.
There is no limit to the number of vocalists per act for the vocal category. However, KBS reserves the right to remove vocalists from the subsequent rounds if they are found to be contributing insignificantly to the team. Vocal acts now have the option of adding up to two additional backup dancers to draw more interest to their acts.
Interested applicants may submit their audition videos for consideration via the online registration form available on the website from now till 6th June 2018. 🙂
