[SINGAPORE] Super Junior Mighty As Ever At Super Show 7

Hailed as the ‘Kings of Hallyu Wave’, Super Junior was finally back in the sunny shores of our island after three long-awaited years. Singapore was also the first overseas stop after their Seoul concert last year which made this concert extra special for Singaporean ELFs!

Despite the smaller lineup, the K-pop veterans did not fail to disappoint where they performed in front of a 7,500 strong crowd that night. This proved that the success and popularity of Super Junior has not dimmed one bit even after the long hiatus due to mandatory military service.

Starting the evening right with ‘Black Suit’, which was the group’s latest comeback track from the album ‘PLAY‘, the seven members emerged onto the stage decked smartly in blue and the crowd went wild as cheers erupted upon their grand appearance.

The atmosphere heightened as the septet performed other hit tracks such as ‘Scene Stealer’ and ‘Mamacita’ before taking a breather to introduce themselves to the audience one by one.

Donghae certainly wowed the audience with his impeccable English skills, ‘Today, I’ll do my best for you guys since it’s only one night — I love you guys!” while other members such as Eunhyuk and Heechul exclaimed that they ate chilli crab and pepper crab in Singapore and Eunhyuk even did a crab dance much to the amusement of the fans.

Continuing the concert in high spirits, the group performed other sidetracks from their PLAY album such as ‘Girlfriend’, ‘Too Late’ and ‘One More Chance’ where the group charmed the audience with their slick and sharp dance moves. The energy level from Super Junior was really astounding for a bunch of young men who were already in their thirties.

The fervour did not stop there where the group swapped out of their trendy and bright costumes during the VCR segments for power ranger costumes during the songs ‘Tic Toc’ and ‘Rokkugo’! The audience was delighted to see Super Junior behaving mischievously as they ran around the entire stage even going close to some lucky fans at the seated areas. It was simply refreshing to see them having a good time!

The highlight of the entire concert was during ‘Sorry Sorry’ where the audience bopped towards the familiar tune when it started to play and the catchy lyrics definitely made one feel like dancing along to the song!

Apart from synchronising harmoniously as a group, Super Junior also demonstrated that they all have different individual talents where Siwon turned the entire concert into a clubbing party where he DJ-ed to ‘On and On’ heightening up the atmosphere and Heechul blew us away with his impressive drum solo skills where he drummed to the entire song of ‘Mr Simple’. Talk about being talented!

Alas, all good things had to come to an end where the group shared their feelings with the audience towards the closing of the concert. Leader Leeteuk delivered a special message dedicated to Singaporean ELFs and he said that was very thankful for their support towards Super Junior and Yesung got heartfelt that night where he said, “I had an unforgettable time with you guys. Thank you very much.” The seven members then gathered to take a group photo with the entire audience where it was a beautiful sight to see as ELFs lifted up their sapphire blue lightsticks which illuminated the entire stadium.

Last but not least, the group ended off the night with the final closing song ‘Miracle’ during the encore stage. Besides being known as the kings of Hallyu, they were also called the kings of fanservice as well. The members went all out that night to extend their gratitude towards the fans where they even allowed fans to come into close physical contact with them! Now that’s called true fanservice!

It was truly an unforgettable night for everyone where ELFs definitely cherished this concert after not being able to see Super Junior for such a long time. The memories forged would be etched in their minds for a long time to come!

We would like to give a huge thank you to One Production for the generous invite! 🙂
