“[SINGAPORE] Kim Jong Kook Shines At The 22nd Asian Television Awards”

Kicking off December with the highly anticipated 22nd Asian Television Awards, the prestigious event saw an array of celebrities and industry luminaries alike where the 2-day award show was held at Suntec Singapore once more.

This year it had over 1350 entries from 20 different countries vying to be titled “AsianTV’s Best” for 46 Awards which was a spectacular number especially since the Asian Television Awards is well-known for their recognition in excellence in programming, production and performance.

The stellar line-up included local artistes such as Zoey Tay, Felicia Chin, Oon Shu An, Alaric Tay and Chua En Lai as well as renowned international artistes such as Afgan, Joanna Dong, Bii, Kim Jong Kook and GG Magree who put up amazing performances.

During that evening, KBS’ “Love in the Moonlight” took home the “Best Drama Series” award beating the likes of other popular dramas such as tvN’s “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” and SBS’ “Dr Romantic”.

It is no surprise to many that the main highlight of the event was when Korean star Kim Jong Kook made his appearance on the red carpet. Screams and cheers erupted as fans tried to get a glimpse of the Running Man star who flew down specially from Korea for the Asian Television Awards. The veteran singer went on stage later to put up a performance for his fans where he serenaded the crowd with hits such as “Today More than Yesterday” and “One Man”.

His smooth vocals blew everyone away! It was indeed an impressive performance as often, Kim Jong Kook is mostly fondly remembered as the strong muscle guy on Running Man rather than a singer who is accomplished in his years.

The three hour ceremony eventually drew to a close with Kim Jong Kook wrapping it up successfully before bidding farewell. The Asian Television Awards which exceeded expectations with the evening that was filled with fervour and excitement living up to its name would definitely be etched in the fans’ minds for a long time!

The Seoul Story would like to extend our thanks to the team behind 22nd Asian Television Awards for giving us the opportunity to cover the event! 🙂
