[MALAYSIA] A Special Bond Between SEVENTEEN & CARATs at ‘Ideal Cut’ In Kuala Lumpur

As part of their ‘Ideal Cut’ tour this year, SEVENTEEN also made sure to stop over and greet CARATs at the MINES International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur on September 23rd, 2018. It has been a year since they last met Malaysian CARATs during their ‘Diamond Edge’ tour, and the boys made it very clear that they had missed being in Malaysia and seeing everyone!

Within this one year, the talented self-producing group has added another full repackaged album “TEEN,AGE, Director’s Cut” and mini album ‘You Make My Day’ under their belt. It was inevitable that even with a 3-hour long concert filled with mainly performances (as compared to ‘Diamond Edge’), SEVENTEEN was unable to perform all the songs they have in their arsenal – an astounding testament to how far they’ve come and how much they’ve achieved!

There was never a dull moment throughout the concert, as SEVENTEEN continued to keep things fresh and exciting for CARATs by introducing never seen before and exclusive remixes to their performance set list, as well as entertaining fans and fellow members alike with their antics and jokes during talk segments.

Sharing The Spotlight
One would think that with 13 members, it would be hard for each and every member to stand out and not be overshadowed by the presence of the entire group. SEVENTEEN had the chance to showcase a variety of genres within their three units (hip hop, vocal, performance) – but that’s not all!

Within certain songs, each member was also provided with the opportunity to showcase their individuality as they wish during a short freestyle segment, like Hoshi, Jun, The8 and Dino of the performance unit in ‘Jam Jam’, and Joshua and Vernon in ‘Rocket’, where they would playfully do a game of scissors-paper-stone to see whose turn it is to do the freestyle segment towards the end of the song. For the KL stop, Joshua lost the game, and smoothly pulled off his pin drop dance move twice to the enthusiastic cheers of CARATs!

Even within group songs, such as ‘Aju Nice’ during the encore, an extra set of eight beats were added in the middle for the group to change up how they usually performed the song, resulting in different outcomes at each concert stop.

Face Off
One of the highlights that CARATs were treated to would definitely be the scene of the dance battle between Seungkwan and Dino! When the challenge was first issued, Seungkwan confidently proclaimed, “When we were trainees, he (Dino) taught me. But now, I will win!”

Both members performed their best across two different rounds – one with powerful songs (‘Bring It’ and ‘Call Call Call’, the latter from their Japan album also released earlier this year) and one with a slow ballad ‘Smile Flower’ – and eventually, Dino was declared the victor, determined by CARATs’ cheers! Don’t worry Seungkwan, we believe you’ll win one day as long as you keep working hard! 😛

Undying Love
Throughout the concert, SEVENTEEN also constantly showed how much they loved CARATs; affectionately addressing CARATs from princesses (Hoshi), likening them to stars (Vernon) – even the Bongbong outfits they were dressed in at one point of time were a shout-out to CARATs (the Bongbong concept having been originally conceptualized by member Mingyu and further developed by all the other members).

After experiencing so much love from the boys, and being treated to so many delightful stages, it is no wonder that CARATs were reluctant as the concert drew to an end. The boys promised to be back, and hoped to see everyone again on their next visit to Malaysia!

We definitely enjoyed the concert and hope to see the boys again soon! The Seoul Story would also like to extend our thanks to Fast Track Events for the media invite! 🙂
